One of the true greats, and a gentleman. Not many like him these days.

I think Menzies is one of the most under appreciated players ever. Menzies was the gun. Of course his last game for Manly was a winning premiership and of course he scores a try.

This guy is the true golden boy of Rugby League. Just such a gentleman, down to earth and the last of the true blue "Have a go" types.

As hard as they come. The Beaver was an absolute animal on the field!! The only reason I ever wore a headgear in some games was because of Menzies

And as good as he was on the field, he's a class act off the field. The only time Beaver made headlines was for his try scoring and general play for Manly, NSW and Australia. No scandals, no trouble with the law, nothing. The man is just a class act. They talk about rugby league role models ... stuff sCam Smith, the NRL should be pushing players like Steve Menzies.

Beaver Menzies is one of the greatest players, week in, week out, I have ever seen. Met him once after a Roosters match, and he was a gentleman and a great ambassador. Not only for rugby league and manly , but for sport in general. They loved him over here ( UK ) and there is no reason not to. Amazing ability, but a lot of people don't seem to recognise actually how hard he was in defence. A true giant of the game. I'm a Roosters fan, but Beaver makes my top 10 players ever. Wish he was coming to play for my new team in the Midlands Premier League in 2021.... keep an eye out for the Staffies Rugby League in Stoke -on- Trent.

Never liked Manly but Menzies was special. Imagine if he had stayed with Manly 5 years more after 2008. He would have clocked 20 years (1993-2013) with the same club and would’ve probably ended his career winning that years GF. You’re a legend mate👏

Even though I am a Bulldogs supporter, not matter how much their performance pisses me off. I always had a soft spot for Menzies and a lot of others. But nothing was as cool as the old style head gear and the fact this bloke could play in the backs as well as the forwards. Truly a forgotten legend of the game.

Worst part of an away day at Brookvale - Grant Goldman with the "Beaver!" every time Menzies broke the line (which against that mid-2000s Souths side was all too often)

That manly team from 94,95,96 and 97 where amazing teams. I think only one premiership during that time is an unfair reflection of how good they were especially when you think they had to compete against the raiders and Broncos who were juggernauts at the time.
