I’ve been listening to the Steve Miller Band ever since I was about seven years old. Got a chance to see those guys play live in Charlotte North Carolina 2022 for the Coca-Cola 600 they still rocket. They sound amazing.

Seems like it does pretty well in concerts. Wasn't so much a radio hit, but makes the greatest hits 1974-78 album because it was probably a well liked live song

Steve Miller now 76 years old getting up there performing and sounding as good singing these as when he released them in the mid 70s. Cool to see

@@skooby_doobie_doonkann3334 I agree completely. Like a fine wine Steve only got better with age. I saw him many times in the 70's starting about 1971, right after Number 5 was released, and each show I attended was markedly better than the last. He always had top notch musicians backing him.

@TheCannabisKing Technically Steve Miller is the first guitarist, cus in the solo section while both of them are playing the lead, Steve consistently plays the melody while the long haired dude plays the harmony during the second section of the solo, giving him the title of second guitar. Amp volume has nothing to do with it, it's totally up to the songs writer to decide volume levels in accordance to how he wants the notes to sound in relation to each other

@@CannedHam6 I'm guessing that Steve may have played through a fender deluxe as he had an endorsement from them and has spoken about how he got a fairly unique tone through stratocasters and fender amps in the 70s on book of dreams and fly like an eagle. His tone in the video sounds like that of the original record of the song and I own a fender deluxe and I can dial in some good SMB tones. Hope this is of some help although I claim to be no expert
