Had the pleasure of seeing Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs in 1975-76 at least a dozen times in Coral Gables, FL (University of Miami)
Big fan ever since!

Its mind boggling how he can still retain so much clarity and precision during his alt picking runs having such a bad economy of motion due to the damn arthritis... truly one of the greatest.

I think the same thing every time I see him doing that. It's both painful to see him have to pick that way now, but at the same time admiring!

Steve can still play (hes the king) but it's SO damned sad to see the arthritis decimating his right wrist. Sometimes he goes for those quick runs and it's just not as crisp as it once was. My all time fav player. It's also sad to think about the fact that I may never get to see the Dregs live again and the two shows in Atlanta sold out FAST.

Saw them in Charleston a couple of days ago. They seem to have lost nothing. I am so glad for the opportunity to see the Dregs again - may all time favorite. Saw the Dregs in Austin when the opening act for them was Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I remember when Steve didn't use the forearm to speed pick, when all the movement was from the wrist. Maybe it is because of the trouble he is having with his own wrist.I haven't tuned into Steve for a decade. It is like he passed away or something.I don't know.Somewhere it just seems like Steve became lost compositional and he has a really hard time keeping a band together.I used to pass him every day in the hall where Duane Allman lived.

I've never really understood why the likes of Steve, Mark Knopfler and Gary Moore never play their guitars left handed since they are left handed. It seems to me that would make things easier but maybe I'm wrong.
@patrickexiler9255
@patrickexiler9255 6 жыл бұрын
I asked him that once when he did a workshop in my hometown. His answer: "Have you ever seen a lefthanded piano? Same thing, isn't it? " Being a piano player and a leftie it was hard to disagree, but I wish he would play a left handed guitar, if for no other reason than being able to buy a Steve Morse Guitar left handed edition.

its not that simple really. i'm left handed and there is NO way i could ever play guitar left handed lol. it feels totally and completely WRONG.
