LYRICS
Under neon lights, we claim this town
No one can take us down
No, not tonight
City Boys and City Girls
Runnin’ Wild
Burning like a fallin’ star
Golden stardust, that’s what we are
Young voices carry on
Come together in the same ole song
{Chorus}
We’re still here
We’re shadows fallin’
The night is callin’ again
We’re still here
Where love is runnin’
The night is calling, again
(Brother to Brother)
Another night, Another town
Walkin’ my heart around
Same old choices, again
Like so many tears in the rain
Will they remember your name
Young hearts reach fearlessly
In the night
{Chorus}
(Sister to Sister)
We’re all together
(You know, I care)
We are…
(We will)
Always
(Be together)
We’re still here
We’re shadows fallin’
The night is callin’ again
We’re still here
Where love is runnin’
The night is calling, again
(Brother to Brother)
Brother to Brother
(Sister to Sister)
We’re still here
Where love is runnin’
The night is calling, again

and that's at his own insistence. This is what impresses me the most, about Steve Perry. His voice is still amazing, at his age... Hell, it's amazing for someone HALF his age. I'll always be a Steve Perry fan, due to his professional integrity.

Amen! I used to be a coluratura soprano and at age 60, my voice is not even close to what it once was. Bravo to Steve Perry. His pipes are still producing the beautiful melodic tones it once did with Journey. He might not be able to belt it out like he once did, but at this chapter, he doesn’t need to!

I can't understand what people expect to hear from a 71 yr old man who toured for many many years, singing thousands of shows and still sings today. What? Is he supposed to sound like he did back in 1977? 1981? Have any of you TROLLS who give your thumbs down ever stopped to think how hard it must be for THE GREATEST Rock/pop singer of all time...THE VOICE...to have his voice NOT sound like it did when he recorded all of those great Journey albums? I challenge ANYONE to name a singer that rivals Steve Perry for ACTUAL high-quality, formal, recognized singing skill/technique/duration/range. Go ahead. Name someone and I can explain how that person isn't better and (probably) not as good as Perry. The human voice can't be fixed or replenished like new guitar strings, etc. It IS AN INSTRUMENT that--sadly--wears out. Mr. Perry's voice still is smooth and pure. He knows his limits and explores them beautifully. Thank God for Steven Ray Perry.

The Raised On Radio tour wrecked his voice. But honestly it's like you said... at his age, with all the touring he did, and amazing songs way up in his range, what do people expect? He still has the range, it's just gravel. He's our generation's Tony Bennett. The only two guys I can think of who are even close to their prime selves are Mickey Thomas and Dennis DeYoung, but it would be hard to argue either of them in their primes were on a par with Steve Perry. I'm a tenor, I'm only 54 and my tone hasn't changed but it's hard to reach some of those notes I just breezed through 20 years ago

I’m 62 and grew up with Steve and Journey blasting out my speakers in high school. He could never be replaced nor mimicked. He sings with a passion that only comes from his own life experiences. Very few vocalists can sing like Steve. He was blessed by God to share with all of us the deep emotions that come with this short journey of life. I’m terminally ill, and listening to Steve just brings tears to my eyes. I personally know some great artists like Frank Hannon of Tesla. Actually sang with him on stage. But Steve? As a vocalist myself, having won multiple competitions for singing; he’s the greatest ever.

Dear Roger, I still listen to Journey everyday on my outdated iPod….. with music that moves me and has meaning, with lyrics that say something…..I am emotionally attached to all of the music that came from OUR generation. I always will be. Because if doesn’t touch your soul why bother? I actually enjoyed this song, and as usual the recognizable voice of our youth ❤❤❤

Steve took me through loves, break-ups & the full circle. I bought both his cassettes when he went single. My boyfriend had broken up with me & it felt as if all was lost, like most high school love feels. I would sit in the dark, push the play button on my cassette tape with headphones in & would listen to Foolish Heart- rewind, rewind, & rewind. It was as if Steve were sitting on the side of the bed soothing my hurt heart with his voice- until all was well again. What a wonderful time to live- the MTV video generation. We would all be glued to MTV waiting for our favorite videos to play randomly. This new generation has no idea what that was like- to patiently wait. I recall staying up into the early hours of the night to watch MTV, which my parents did not like me watching. I would get up after they went to sleep and sneak into the living room. Sitting very close to the screen in the dark & with the volume on very low- I would patiently wait for one of his videos to come on, praying each night my parents wouldn't catch me. Ha. One time in high school one of my friends got to go see them in Orlando or Tampa. Monday he came to school with a book in hand he had purchased at the concert, ready to share with everyone in homeroom. I remember thinking, I have to get my hands on that book no matter what. He finally passed me that thing to look at. Randy Jackson was their guitarist then, with his big hair. I remember thinking, I do not want to give this back, but it was inevitable. After school I went on to college and like most college students, I would tape my cassette film reel inside if they broke, then using a pencil to twist it back tight inside. I wore out all his music but there was no way his music was leaving me. Ah, such wonderful memories. Each time I hear his voice & music, I am immediately transported back there in time. ❣ Thank you Steve for lending us your voice to listen to & helping us get through the twists and turns of this beautiful thing called life.

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was 1983. I was nineteen. We lived out in the country. I was driving my mother into the city to her hairdressing appointment in my dad's new Ford Grenada. I loved driving that thing - even if it was to take my mother where she needed to go. There was a heavy downpour that afternoon. The song Faithfully - Journey's new single came over the airways. It was the first time I heard the band. Midway through, I had it cranked up to full volume. My mother wasn't too pleased, but that was okay. I had just heard one of the greatest songs of my generation - not to mention the greatest voice in history. Fast forward 36 years into the future, and here I am listening to Steve Perry's new single - We're still here, and I can't help but say - yes Steve, we're still here, and you sound just as amazing as you did the first time I heard you on that rainy afternoon all those years ago. You will always be number one in my book!

July 19, 2020 and we are in a life crisis and going through a global pandemic, and im 52 going on 53 years old, and im still here healthy and alive thank God. Steve Perry is THE best vocalist songwriter that walks the planet. Age is just a number. His voice is undeniable. For everything this man has been through in his lifetime (and thats only knowing what we know of him) his spirits are still up and positive. He is such a humble and kind human being. I got the pleasure up meeting Steve Perry on a talk show radio back in 1998 after just having his hip surgery, i was one of the very lucky last callers, and he was so kind. Thank you Steve for being so patient while i bragged how much i loved his music and how i raised my children on Journey music. God bless to you Steve Perry and your family and hope you all are happy and healthy. ❤❤❤

Yep...Arnel Pinero has a great voice..very close to what Steve Perry’s was. But the reputation and renown of Steve Perry will always be “Steve Perry” with Journey and in his 80s solo career...and his voice and performance chops can never be replaced. His voice here is very good here. But like all things in our body, as it ages, the voice becomes more brittle and our pipes sag causing the perfectly normal age-related changes. Right or wrong, I heard a voice coach say that he may have been able to keep some of the strength of his voice if he had used the services of a voice coach after or before, he left performing for like 10 years. From what I understand, singers who constantly push their voices in grueling concerts (over many years) also need to give their voices rest and “therapy.” Perry has said that he didn’t even sing one note during that time of physical/medical/ mental challenges and that he was just burnt out. I guess so. But thanks, Steve, (and Journey) for giving us such a fantastic body of work that will be cherished through the ages.

I have lived in L.A. my whole life, so far. I was fortunate to work in the music industry when I was very young. I also had a dear friend that worked her way as a program manager for a rock n roll radio station in O.C.. We used to go to VIP record release parties, go to clubs to see unknown bands plus up-and-coming bands performing all kinds venues. Some "clubs" were "underground"...in different places on different nights. Now some of those "underground" clubs are "legit" now. My favorite thing that we would do, even though they were long days or nights, was going to video filmings. All of them, regardless of the band/performaners, were so much fun to me. I liked to watch the whole "process" with the same song played over and over and over...it was so fascinating.🤗 I remember walking with my friend or meeting up with friends in Hollywood, other cities and even other states, back in the 80s. So, now I hear THIS song of yours Steve and it takes me back to those days/nights and all those memories... Not long ago I went with a some friends to see some new bands play and after we went to the Rainbow. Not much has changed, except for me I suppose...I remember seeing those same "kids" walking in Hollywood. Some dressed dressed for clubbing, a party and some just hanging out with their friends. I saw everyone and everything with different eyes and THIS song captures THAT "feeling" I had watching everyone in Hollywood that night. Youth is so fleeting...I was so fortunate to see bands and performaners before anyone knew who they were. I didn't know it then but many times I was watching music history happen with me there! I never thought about it like that, back then. Steve Perry, thank you for your beautiful songs⚘ and making me "feel" all those memories again. ❤🎤🎶🎸🌆🙏❤

Dear Mr. Perry- Thank you so much for all of the music thru the years. I was 9 years old when I first heard you on the Midnight Special show way back in 1978. Wolfman Jack was the host that night, and introduced the band who went on to sing (Anytime) and (Feeling that way). The show, and Journey we're a staple in my childhood home...( Thank you mom and dad!) I remember just how mesmerized I was with your voice, and the sound that was coming thru the old floor model tube t.v. 40 years later I just want to say that I am so grateful for your decision to stick with your mother's wishes. BAR NONE, AND BY FAR THE BEST MALE VOCALIST I HAVE EVER HEARD...ESPECIALLY LIVE! There are a lot of other great vocalist, but NONE will EVER compare to your abilities. When you stood beside Neil, and hit those absolutely UNBELIEVABLY high octives thru Wheel In The Sky...man boy's and girls I just CANNOT put it in word's. I mean I truly can't! To those of you who never got a chance to see this man, and this band in their hay day...I am truly sorry! My many many thanks to you Steve, and the boys. May you rock me until they lay me down!

Thank the Rock Gods that Steve allowed his voice to rest for years after leaving Journey. For a man that's 70 years old, his voice sounds really good. Think back when he released "Street Talk" in mid-80's, his voice hasn't changed that much. He still sounds excellent. If it wasn't for that long layoff, I doubt his voice would have held up. Just look at some other aging rockers that have been singing non-stop for 40-50 years. Their voices are almost gone. God bless you Steve Perry!!!
