I’m actually impressed by how well Rannazzisi is handling the conversation. It’s such an uncomfortable and humiliating situation he put himself in, and he’s dealing pretty well with Howard talking about it to his face. I think most people would just wanna disappear forever after doing something like that.

This is a really big psychological thing going on there. At first I was like WTF who douchebag would do that. But watching this interview, he's just a person that had/has deep social anxiety / emotional issues - like all of us. But his manifested in a strange way. He seems very honest here and trying to become a whole person. It's very interesting closer look to a fallen celeb personality, timely now with all these Louis CK and other guys with previously proper imagos but who have gotten caught with some dirty stuff

Be honest with me you live for this and the bickering between people an the comments its empowering to think you have smashed someone right>? I bet you came back many times an edited the comment checking it over an over saying how dare he contest me an what i think. So what do you think should happen after all of this should he have his bank account stripped an then ran out of town or should we stone him>? I mean like you said he lied for personal gain and then had many chances to come clean yet ignored them an kept the lie going for many years.

It's amazing how far Howard Stern has come as an interviewer. This comedian's story is painful, embarrassing, and brave. I'm sure that every person on here trashing him has made terrible mistakes in their lives that they would not have the introspection or courage to own up to on such a gigantic platform.

@@Ay2xy I would have more respect for this man if he admitted to lying earlier, To outright even say that is despicable....3,000 people died that day, not just NYC ,but the Pentagon and western PA as well...

I mean, he’s not really taking full responsibility. He’s saying people asked and assumed he was there, and he just agreed and went along with it.

When people hear that you were in Vietnam, there is a real temptation to elaborate and embellish the experience. There is a moment when a decision has to be made; one's whole life comes-down to that second. I was lucky and decided to just tell the truth rather than more 'dead bodies and torture' stories. One second decides the future.

He explained how it started and got away from him and eventually became too hard to go back on. If you're still glaring at this guy like he's some terrible person then you're a bad judge of character. He's a decent guy who got caught up in a shitty lie.

agree totally. all he had to do is just not talk about it after he lied the first time. every time you're asked about it, simply say it's too upsetting to talk about and be done with it (who the fuck would pressure a 9/11 survivor to talk about their story if they say they don't want to). he did the opposite. several times over the years he discussed his fake story in DETAIL - that's the disturbing part. on marc maron's show, he went on and on. And remember, he didn't confess, he was busted, or about to be, that's why he did this apology tour. if not for the Times article., he'd still be going around telling his fake ass tales. Sick stuff. also totally likely that his tv show FORCED him to do Stern as a condition of keeping his job.

We all make mistakes, some of us lie to get a day off work, some of us maintain a manipulative, crafted story of being involved and deeply affected by an infamous tragedy for 15 years before being forced to admit it.
