i agree. i don't really like Howard's shock jock vibe but I have to admit that when you listen to how he talks and questions his guests and this person you do appreciate the skill that he actually has. It is too bad that he went the low brow route for his admittedly hugely successful career as I think he would have been a great, straight interviewer. Now, that I think about it, he probably would not have been allowed to ask the interesting questions in a straight format so the shock route probably allowed for nuggets of truth and honesty. It is too bad they never caught this guy as I am sure he (the killer) would have mentioned it to amp himself up. he's probably dead now from an std, I guess.

Probably bullshit, or there would have been more news about this guy somewhere down the line. He gave too much information, too many clues for investigators to piece together and make use of. They would have been after him, but it was probably determined to be a hoax by investigators, or Howard told them it was just a bit they did, perhaps even knowing who 'the caller' was. It sounded as though he was just saying things on the fly to keep it going. They would have figured out where that call came from, especially back then.

Even has a great sense of humor, even better than mine. Being well mannered, friendly and funny is what makes serial killers dangerous. It isn't their size, or weapon of choice, it's their ability to appear to have a good intention and the ability to get you to trust him and go somewhere private with him. That's also why they target hookers, they are easy to bring to a private location because that's the whole point of hiring one and they are literally paid to trust u and let you get really close to them.

It's a proven tactic for business negotiations or sales. When something is keeping a deal from closing, you mention an issue or problem you know isn't what is holding the other person back. By inserting the wrong assumption ("I'm guessing the time turnaround is what's keeping you from buying," etc) they instinctively feel the need to correct you, and it draws out the real reason they havent said yet. If you sell a product or service, and cant figure out what makes someone pull the trigger, get it wrong on purpose. The same applies to arguments and negotiations for anything in life, if you want to know what someone is thinking. Be wrong on purpose, watch them clarify things.

Deep down they want to admit. They feel they need to confess, which is probably why he would tell the women he was going to kill them. But, it's not the same. It's not real attention and who are they? They'll be gone anyways so, and to him, they're not important anyways. It's not uncommon for someone like that to call into a radio show or whatever because they get their 15 mins. of fame. He'll do it again and if he hasn't really been caught, I'm sure he's bumped his numbers up since the call. He'll probably continue until something big causes him to stop, he's caught, gets too old to do it, or developes physical limitations. These people are mental screwed. He doesn't know why he really does it because there's something wrong with the noodle. It's not anything in mainstream media or entertainments fault, either. Crazy people watch tv and read, too. It's not an influence, it's a drive they already developed. The tone, the way he spoke, and what he said. Yeah, I bet dude was serious. He did give too much info about himself but, he is pretty sure he hasn't got caught, at least around that time. I mean, he's been doing it since he was 16. He didn't say how old he was. At least he was smart enough about that.

Has some sense of phone networks maybe works for city or company either french/Italian mix medium build but fit ..... He kills sober and it's frustration or a form of relief. Doesn't like uncleanliness (tattoos and prostitution) probably Catholic (no offense I'm Catholic just a thought) comics, books and movies plays it safe and he's probably studied zodiac or other killers I think he lies about where he left the bodies.... But has worked around them (most would have cctv or recording). If he's still alive they could do vocal analysis..... And to be live on Howard Stern you'd get an idea of where he was during a certain time even if he was on a payphone... I bet they caught him on a single charge or he's had too close of a call he's probably in his 60s now

I assure you that their clientele are not individuals anyone would want to sleep with, without the financial aspect. It's an incredibly dangerous profession because of predators like that nutbag; society and law enforcement as a whole don't care if they dissappear off the face of the Earth which is why he was able to kill so many women without getting caught. Sex workers are human beings. To be honest, it's disturbing that you picked here and now to devalue their existence. Prostitution is not murder nor is it comparable to murder. You can make the argument that STDs and Abortion are murder, but neither of them are prostitution, so that argument is irrelevant.

FBI says at any given time there are 25-50 active serial killers in the USA alone. Probably countless more in countries that don't have the resources to track them. I am certain that there are serial killers who have left the US and other countries and go to countries in southeast Asia, South and Central America, Mexico, eastern Europe, Africa, etc. to kill freely or just vacation there specifically to kill. Think about how easy it is to get away with murder in Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, or Mexico where they have huge gang problems and cartels and not enough police who aren't on a gang or cartel payroll to investigate crimes, especially a dead prostitute. Risk is that serial killers, unless they are hitmen or cartel affiliated locals, are usually not actually tough people, they usually prey on the weak where as gang killing hardens you as a person and its very matter of fact and part of every day business, so some soft white guy from the USA isn't going to have a good experience in prison with real, hardened criminals. El Salvador or Honduras that is a very bad situation. Unless the killer has ties to high level organized crime they probably aren't walking out of one of those prisons. Gangs like to show that they have some sort of and ethical code so if you kill women, children, abuse or rape women or children, especially as a white guy in someone else's country, you're probably going to be made example of.

Here's a sentence I NEVER thought I would say: Stern would be an incredible therapist. As is. No joke. I am blown away by Stern's unbelievably quick and brilliant approaches. he worked to both appease the ego of the caller and to humiliate him in order to gain access to as much info as possible, including what motivates his psyche (ie- is he more motivated by experiencing pleasure or avoiding pain)...I know it could appear clunky to some given the fact that the caller obviously picked up on what he was doing...but as a mental health therapist for over a decade...I see how it displays his mastery even further. to me, it seems clear that howard wanted the caller to recognize his tactics and think Howard had no idea (therefore, giving the caller a chance to reinforce his own perception of genius and therefore continue to play along, in an effort to show the world how much smarter he is than everyone). This is a skillset that takes years and years for most therapists to master (don't worry, it's used by therapists as tool for healing rather than deception) and whether he did this intentionally or it came naturally to him...I'm blown away.

Just one thing. He talks about the first murder leaving clues. Howard asks what kind of clues. He says thumb paint with their thumb. He saw it in a comic book a couple years ago. So we are to assume he's killed 12 people within a couple years as he was talking about his first murder. We are to also assume since his first murder was at age 16, that would make him 19 at the time of this call. If a couple years is 3. All assumptions ofcourse.

I've heard numbers before from police that many homicides and crimes in general are solved by citizens giving information and leads out and without them they wouldn't be able to solve many crimes. It seems if there is no real connection between the suspect and victim and nobody to share that information then it would be much easier to get away with. How do you even know where to begin to look without any physical evidence or connection between the two people?
