( or really anyone else reading this, this seems to be a somewhat untouched topic) Without compromising the safety of the nation, is/was there no way people with conditions willing to enter the military are legitimately able to do so? People are capable of offering more than many think. Even George Washington and Abe Lincoln were thought to have suffered from chromosomal/testosterone illnesses. These greats that swayed the nation for better were also individuals afflicted. Why deny so many others with chromosomal conditions even a supporting role in the military? just because you have asthma doesn't mean you can't keep up, the dependence on medication in a warzone deffo means you can't serve (unfortunately) but many asthmatics are great athletes. David Beckham has asthma, 8% of Olympic athletes in 2010 had asthma. I manage to still run, train muay thai three times a week, go rock climbing and never have any issues besides mild asthma symptoms in Spring and Autumn or maybe the start of summer which is easily controlled with medication (seasons changing and pollen count being the triggers). The difference between chronic asthma and well controlled asthma is quite pronounced and most folks I know with it can exercise and hit average peak flow readings if they look after their asthma properly. That being said, the need to control it is a significant disadvantage. Imagine trying to fill a prescription in Helmand province or being woken up by gunfire and having to find your preventer inhaler or even worse, the reliever inhaler before you put your boots on and wade in, there in lies the rub imo...

As soon as he jumped on the grenade to sacrifice himself, he became worthy of mjolnir.
@samsonguy10k5 жыл бұрын
Well, yes, but being worthy requires more than just being willing to sacrifice yourself to save others. Humility is important, as well. Steve was at risk of not having that with his single-handedly saving the 107th prisoners and then his constant successes against Red Skull's facilities. But then he lost Bucky, and then he learned he can't win every cause, every effort. That is what allowed him to be willing to fly the plane into the ice, the realization it was the only play and that attempting anything more would be futile. (When you consider the autopilot likely only allowed changes in altitude, and not heading)

Actually most people self impose constraints. They are not dumb, just influenced by their education and upbringing. A lot comes from school when you answer a question technically correctly but the teacher marks you wrong because that isn't the answer they were looking for or you used a different method to get there. "Get me that flag" heavily implies it is supposed to be a challenge. The reward of getting a ride back reinforces that. Pulling the pin and dropping the pole is too easy of a solution, therefor it must not be allowed. That would be cheating. There is even debate in these comments what would really happen in the real military. Some say Rogers would be applauded, some say Rogers would be punished for being a smart ass.

Dead King in Hell I had a similar situation a few years ago. Had a tough job, and was a female. I had to remove a big orange cloth weather vane from a massive pole and just pulling the pin was not allowed. So looking at it I got a plane tug (vehicle to pull Cessnas) and used it to SLOWLY and safely lower the pole down so I could remove the vane and replace it with a new one. When I was done, I used the tug to slowly raise the pole back up. When I was done I was surprised to see everyone looking at me. Including the boss. Clearly this was not what he had in mind. But I did the job safely and did not take long. He gave me a small lecture about “that’s not what the tug was for”. But later I saw one of the other guys copy me!😅 Brains over brawn works almost every time!

The reason there was such a rigorous screening process for the super soldier serum is it does not only enhance your physical abilities it also amplifies personality traits. Any trace of instability would be amplified into a full-blown psychosis when the serum was administered

Meaning that in a programmed world it the person who CAN THINK that is usually the most valuable, but also dont forget, that person is also THE MOST FEARED. I think maybe these two clips in question are trying very hard but yet very candlestinely to promote self initiative and actual thinking. And yet, its clear that those who do are also hated and rejected by their common peers. If you think, you definitely stand alone in this world.

Same destination different routes. When HYDRA was winning on the war, CA won with his intellect and strength. Yes, his intellect definitely helped but his strength definitely played a part too. In the first place, Captain America was about an intelligent and brave young soldier who wasn't strong enough to fight. And the whole movie was about giving him the strength he lacked to protect his country and its people. TLDR; It is not Strength > Intellect nor Intellect > Strength. But Strength = Intellect.
