Steve is amazing!! I've lived in the Sierra for nearly 40 years and what he does is so kind for the bears and the humans. More than 25 years ago I lived backing on the 'what is now' the golf course. There was an enormous red bear that would sleep in the trees and every morning walk through my yard heading for what is now lock trash bins. It was because of Steve that the town finally began to lock and bar them. It was because of Steve that the town developed a save the bears and don't feed our bears program(s) He is a hero and a world class human. No one on the planet deserves to be given more respect for his amazing work. As for the crap about feeding him... I think he looks fabulous and the same as he did 25 years ago! In this world he's one of the 1% who isn't a fatty. He must have a wonderful wife helping to keeping him slim and fit. I hope he has a trainee to follow in his hard to fill white tennis shoes. Thank you Steve for your brave and intelligent work in Mammoth. You are my hero.

It’s great to look at now, especially with all the bad news going on in the world! I pray about everything, but I don’t watch the news for more than one hour a day max! Anyway, I love how he talks back and forth with the bears, and he tells us what the bear is saying in bear language! It makes it so fun! 😀

One of the best I’ve ever seen. I’m still a crying or Blondie & her cub. I’ll never forget her mournful cry’s or Steve specsjing back to her. I do believe she’s in the Spirit Workd now, with her baby in tow. 👏❤

I loved the story of Steve and his bears. It was breathtaking and amazing. What beautiful animals. They’re so smart. It’s easy to see Steve’s connection to them and especially to the ones he’s named like Ace, the Ugly Bear and of course, Blondie and her cub. My heart broke when her cub was hit and killed. I could feel Steve’s grief as he joined her mourning for her child. That’s as close to human as I’ve ever seen from any animal. I can’t believe they are so different. Perhaps our differences are mostly in the ways we communicate. I sat down early lay evening and watched from everything in it’s entirety. Hopefully, there’ll be more available I’ve yet to see or more to be filmed. Thank you Steve. You’re an Angel to care for and honor these most precious animals. I can’t help but think when I look at them and your interaction, it’s we who aren’t civilized. They work well in their environment. If not for us invading their lives, Blondie and her cub would still be alive. You’re a Godsend. I pray you never give up on them or yourself. You’re a great man. 🙏❤Much Love & Bliss! 🙏❤

If bears break through screens, why the heck do people living in bear country not just have a standard of building windows with some sort of grated metal layer, like barred windows...? It can still be stylish and minimal...but a screen is like....absolutely no protection layer. Answer? People are disrespectful and have no understanding of reality...therefore they just expect to never be eaten by a bear, when without mitigation, if a bear ends up 10m from you, I doubt the likelihood of nothing happening.

Right? I should probably be asking these questions in Oregon too. I also don't understand why trash cans that aren't bear proof are legal.

Any one who thinks steve is a showman as i have read in some comments i say put your money where your mouth is and walk a mile in his shoes as far as i have seen he does a tremendous job .we have the same trouble with dingoes in australia were people persist in feeding them and then wonder why they attack when they smell food in camps where its left out side tents etc . Keep up the great work steve its great to see the bond you have with these bears and your community

I hope Steve is taking care of himself, because I think he works everyday, and seems to skip a few meals too many! We are happy he’s keeping everybody happy both the bears and the human population, but he needs a day off and have a few good meals. Im sure his nice wife has the same concern! Those big brown bears has such beautiful auburn fur, almost looks like crush velvet! 🙂

Steve's appetite for attention is bigger than his appetite for food. He does this for a reason. Calling himself a local celebrity is his food.

@@Yosetime But it’s obvious that he really does LOVE the bears. I think the attention is an added bonus that he didn’t ask for, but nevertheless, I think he’s enjoying it, which probably does tickle his ego sometimes.

@@marjorjorietillman856 I agree... and this Yosetime is just a very unhappy person, no idea for the life of animals or people that have no idea. Steve and all the police are just trying to make life better for all concerned.. 😊

Steve seems genuine and as for the “attention seeker/lover” comment, I think that’s awful. What is wrong with being recognized as a local celeb? It’s not as if his ego is so out of control that he thinks of himself as a worldwide phenomenon. He did a wonderful job so the bears AND people can live in harmony. I bet mammoth lakes really misses him and his dedication. I hope he gets rehired at his regular salary. And his show was fun to watch too, although it was sad at times (remember the Blondie episode?).

All my fear induced research on bears has led me to believe recently, that yes, they be scary, but even the scariest one, is living an honest life of an animal. I say this because I can't stand the humans of today, they all live for lies and sin, which animals seem to have no concept of...almost makes them more pure than us at this point...so...I now find myself wanting to protect these creatures more than I want to fear them, as anything so pure should not have to face humanity like it does.

Why can't problem bears be trapped and relocated to areas where they won't come in contact with people?

Not many people need tools to "teach" Bears by chasing them. Just leave them alone. This case is not a normal situation.

the gummies and trail mix, yeah those ppl left it for him, looking ahead this is why blondey was killed, they wouldn’t report his shenanigans and it went over the top, not only that had the cub not died it would have been taught to do the same as Ace and blondey. another bear died because his teeth rotted out and he couldn’t eat. Dont feed the bears, i hope some of these residents are watching these videos and see the outcome of feeding and bird seeding these bears.

I can't say that it's not beautiful but I don't know if I could live there not because I don't love bears but because I do know how dangerous that is. You don't want to have a bad sitch with Mr.Bear. They are cute and adorable so you can forget how dangerous they can be just because they look like a dog in a way like the bear dog chow chow and some other breeds LoL. They are just one of those looks can be decieving. I was not surprised when I heard that bears and canines have some similar lines of descent in the ancient world just closely related. If you look at the ferocious Asian bear yes this bear could only be handled by Steve if anyone could do it he could but yes they may be the smallest but they are the most aggressive well maybe I should say close to the polar bears. They have been known to attack often and they do get into groups possibly because of their size. So I was recently watching a new show called beast buddies Steve should check this one out if he had a chance because of this one guy, the part about taking the wild out of the bear and then releasing it back out in the wild that the police officer mentioned this guy you on the show beast friends he lives in a remote area in New York and he thinks he is helping but what he is doing is essentially killing the bear's because he does that very thing and thus far every bear he has done that to has been shot. It's not good to take bear cubs raise them then put them in the wild where they have no idea how to survive because they had no mom to teach them and they are people friendly so if they can't hunt or get food they will go after the first person they see and they will come back to the area they were raised in to find that food but he keeps doing that to the bears .🌹💯 Love this show God bless and praise Christ Jesus always 🙏 also there's a new mix of bear polar and grizzly have been finding each other due to the ice melting in areas of Alaska and possibly British Columbia so the bears are meeting because polar bears are moving further south for food and grizzly bears are heading further north so we now have pizzlly bears.

Don't feed the bears. The same is true in any town in black bear country in the entire US. It's crazy to me that states don't require every city to have bear proof trash cans. For city people - NO we really don't. It's crazy. And yes you can shoo a bear away & it won't come back if it feels the threat. It's normal animal behavior.

Why are the kids not taught to be respectful of the bears and DON'T harass them??? That kisses me off! And if the bear lashes out? In other places the bear is killed! Line up the parents and give 'em all a good old Sicilian back hand for being dumb 🤣. We have red foxes and I can't tell how many times we don't know who scared who my 14 year old son or the fox. It's funny to see them run in different directions. But He has been taught from the time he was an infant to not harass our pets and you stay away from the local wildlife. This is only 1 hour north of NYC! It's bear season for us now and people loose their freaking minds. Same with the Coyotes. If they would stop building new million dollar homes on every inch of land the wild life wouldn't come into these neighborhoods! Leave the wild furries and the people should leave 😂
