I have the Sonor AQ2 stage kit: 8-10-12 inch toms, 14 and 16 inch floor toms 22inch bass drum and all this sounds fantastic, except the snare drum, way to much " snare " changed drum heads several times but that snare stays like a marching snare. Tuned from very low till very high, but nothing that really sounds nice. I know, Sonor sounds different. I am very happy with the kit but I will change the snare drum, sounds like crap.

Love my AQ2's. After going through 5 kits of Ok quality, I decided to take the advice of my local drum guru. 1) Find out what kind of wood sound you like. 2) Find out what kind of bearing edge sound you like. 3) Find a quality drum with a wide tuning range. 4) Find a company with that offers a lot of shell sizes so you can add pieces later. 5) Find a finish you like. 6) Find it in your price range. It was right about that time, (after playing through those 5 kits in the context of 3 1/2 years in a band) that I realized I love small drum and Sonor introduced the AQ2 line. I loved that they had moved the Safari/Martini/Bop up from SE...always loved those kits. But, the fact that everything was available a la carte in 7 ply maple with a 45 edge that sealed the deal. Later, I plan on getting the mystery AQ2 14x5.5 steel snare that doesn't come with a kit. Wishes: 1) That Sonor made the 20x12 bass of the SE Player kit available in AQ2. and 2) That along with the 14x5.5 steel snare, they made an aluminum and brass versions as well. Thanks again.

Are the AQ2s heavy or pretty lightweight? Im looking for a gigging kit that wont kill my back
@bryanherward46794 жыл бұрын
@@jdrumz321ify about average I'd say...the hardware is a little more heavy duty than some...but I guess it depends on the sizes you're looking for...just got a Yamaha stage custom bop for a beater kit and drum to drum it weighs about the same...I might look at kits mimicking single lug club date style kits...that will minimize the hardware...that and look into the Tama classic series flat base stands...or dw...really light, but not for hanging toms on it bashers
@bryanherward46794 жыл бұрын
@@jdrumz321ify what sizes are you looking for...I might look at the new Yamaha stage custom hip or the Sonor SE Player kit from Sam Ash if you want a larger thin bass drum
@jdrumz321ify4 жыл бұрын
@@bryanherward4679 the 20 inch bass drum. I just love the Aqua Burst finish so much better than any of those Stage Custom ones
@bryanherward46794 жыл бұрын
@@jdrumz321ify honestly the combo tom mount cymbals holder is the heaviest part...maybe just invest in a rocknroller dolly for long trips from the car...hardware and cymbals always weigh more than the kit does

Virgin Bass drums have been since the beginning wtf are you talking about? Do your research.
@normanwilmoth74044 жыл бұрын
Sorry but drilled bass drums for me any day of the week. Dosen't effect sound at all and it's such a classier look in my opinion. O and yes my Tama starclassic is drilled plus your toms have so much more stability on that style setup and you don't have to use so many damn stands unlike non drilled kits. It gives you more options for mounting cymbals if your bass drum is drilled so overall it's simple ergonomics, just so much extra room to work with if your setup is drilled bottom line✌

Are these Remo Ambassadors? They sound really nice.. especially for the money. Wish they made a 13x9 rack tom and maybe an 18 floor as well. They do make a 13x12 floor tom (I had never heard of that sort of thing) I would prob do the 14 floor tom like in this vid.. Steve Smith is so good.
@bherward3 жыл бұрын
yes the 13" floor tom is in the Safari and Martini, but you can buy it separately as well....suppose you could flip it over and mount it on the tom mount using a leg lug

Its a 22" bassdrum and not a 20. You can see it on the amount of the bassdrum hoop screws. The 22" features 10× screws on each side, the 20" 8× screws on each side.
