This video turned into somewhat of a costly project, finding some of these photos. As far as I can tell, this bootleg has circulated mainly in Japan, under the names “The Moving Fingers,” and another simply titled “Vancouver 1993,” with a photo of Vai in a red shirt. I’ve concluded that there are not many photos of Will Riley (keyboardist), Scott Thunes (bassist), and Abe Laboriel Jr. (drummer) from their time playing with Vai. For reasons unknown, T.M. Stevens and Terry Bozzio did not tour in support of the Sex & Religion album, and Laboriel was replaced with Toss Panos later on the tour.
The sound quality of this turned out to be pretty good after some treble reduction to tame the cymbals, and I'd like to give away a lossless version someday. There's a glitch here or there. Most regrettably, the part with what eventually became the Strapping Young Lad song, All Hail The New Flesh, fades out. Devin's screaming abilities are out of this world, per usual.

Thanks so much for sharing! This album was a huge one for me in my youth. The reasons for TM Stevens (passed away this year) and Terry Bozzio not being on the tour aren’t unknown. The band for the album broke up after it was finished. They didn’t want to continue with the project beyond the albums. Vai says he needed to be a control freak on the project which made it less fun for the other musicians.

Thank you! Too bad they never had a proper reunion and toured the S&R album again. And it's a shame Vai really doesn't play any of this material live. It's a crime to leave Touching Tongues of the set for so many years.

TT is in my top 5 Vai songs. Sad that he ignores it and other great songs from that album.

I was there. Other than the fact that it was toon loud, it was a great show! I've seen Steve Vai preform a total of seven times and met him four of those times, and met Devin Townsend once at Tom Le Music. Thanks so much for posting this!

I read the opinion of someone who claimed that the band was consistently overloud, and Devin's vocals too quiet in the mix, on this tour. Wonder why that would be.

Devin really delivers on the vocals live . And Still my Bleeding Heart has some brilliant Vai improvisations (Paul)

Sonically inventive though it is I never liked the song ‘PIG’ because on the original recording the words seemed to sadistically celebrate cruelty to animals . (Paul)

I really doubt that. Steve purports to have been a vegetarian since his 22nd birthday.

@@DTArchive Yes, but it was Devin who did the words. Not S.V

@@walterevans2118 Steve wouldn't have approved of the song, though, if he thought it was glorifying animal cruelty. And I don't see any reason to think that Devin would support it either. I read an interview with him from 1997 where he said that he "liked the idea of being vegetarian." That indicates sensitivity towards animals, does it not?

@@DTArchive Well yes, perhaps....But a lyric that goes -'Why try to hide ? Running ain't gonna do anything for you little one' & then laughter & at the end screaming -'I'll save you' before the sound of a gunshot killing or 'putting down an animal' ....It sounded pretty cruel to me back in 1993... Maybe I'm a bit sensitive because Brian May has just resigned from the post of Vice President of the RSPCA in the UK because they are not taking measures against cruelty to animals. In Brian's latest video on You Tube is footage of Pigs dying crammed into concrete cells in farms dying in pools of their own excrement. (Paul)
