Yes, thank you for posting! I learned this note for note back when the movie came out in 1986, and we didn't have KZbin! It was by ear and using a 7 second sampler to slow phrases down and then learning them bit by bit. It was so refreshing as I relearned it using your upload, my finger just started walking across the fretboard like an old forgotten road re discovered. Even though I fretted the Arpeggios slightly different, the rest of it was spot on for me. Thank you for giving me a blast from the past, I was a year from graduating high school when I learned this, approaching 40 years ago, just saddening, all those little pieces like this that old age and chemo brain have stolen from my memory. Many thanks to you for giving me this awesome transcription to refresh my mind!

I remember me and my friend watching Crossroads back in 86' when it came out. We both played guitar and were huge fans of Steve. And then the dual scene happens. I remember both of us laughin' watchin' Ralph pretend to play this part. He's one of the most uncoordinated actors I've ever seen. And they had his character playin' this piece in the most difficult way possible! Lots of clever editing lol! But what had us rollin' on the floor was watchin' Steve play it for real so effortlessly, you'd think he was yawning while takin' a piss!! And all of a sudden he starts to get fumble fingers! It must of been more difficult for him to pretend to fuck up than it was for him to play it without fuckin' up!!! 😅

Hardest is such a strange question to ask. I would guess you'd have to go with very fast tempo, combined with a variety of playing techniques (alternate picking, outside/ inside picking, legato, sweeping, pinches, bends, tremolo, multi-finger tapping, etc.). Generally speaking the faster something is, and the more the pitch changes, the harder it is. You're probably into some of the more bizarre tech death stuff, even a simple phrase is hard at 300bpm. But even then, maybe not. Jason Richardson has said the hardest thing he wrote was the country section of Hos Down because the tempo is just very fast. He's also an excellent player, and writes a lot of interesting and complex guitar parts. A famous standout is the fast section of the River Dragon Has Come solo by Nevermore; actually playing it accurately in time is quite difficult. There are some solo guitar artists like Angel Vivaldi, etc. that play some pretty wild stuff. I'm not sure if the question has an adequate answer. Even a lot of the fast guys, if you said improvise a solo over a complex jazz chord progression, or play something in some odd timings they would struggle, but working jazz guys could do it all day. There are also classical songs that weren't really written to be arranged on the guitar, but generally they can be adapted. It just depends.
