I was there that day! Steve Vai was like from outer space! So lyrical - amazing musician!

That’s so freakin’ cool!!! Do you know who’s playing bass? It looks like it could be an equally young Stu Hamm…frankly, sounds a lot like him too.

I love that Steve era.The green meanie and the Carvins x100B. And his magic full on. Great albums came out from that. Both solo and as a side man.🎉

This is the best era of Steve Vai i guess, pure and raw. no whammy pedal and his guitar screams

He was never lazy or complacent when it came to progressing as a musician and a guitarist. He wanted to make more and more elements interesting and challenging. It's amazing how far he's come as a musician. He could've suffered at the fate of being dismissed as another 80s 'Shred' guitarist who disappeared into the "Where are they now?" list of guitarists, but incredibly he always saw the bigger picture and believed in everything he did and he was always genuine about it as a person and as a musician. Now, he's still going, having carved out an inimitable musical path, completely unique and integral and still pushing the boundaries of not only the instrument but music as well. Fantastic musician!

I know there is more to this video because I recall he does some talking and Q&A, too. He talks about going to The Bodhi Tree book store on Melrose Ave. in West L.A. and recommends several books, including THE MAGIC IN YOUR MIND By U. S. Andersen, THE ASTRAL BODY by A.E. Powell, and THE EQUINOX by Aleister Crowley.
