An exquisite rearrangement. I love the original version but the space in this, and the musicianship that fills it, is freakin' incredible. Winwood has that mastery of expression that comes with maturity and it shows in his singing and mandolin work here. Band is spot on in their playing. Had to listen to it twice. :)

It used to seem to me that my life ran on too fast And I had to take it slowly just to make the good parts last But when you're born to run it's so hard to just slow down So don't be surprised to see me back in that bright part of town I'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again I'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in And I'll drink and dance with one hand free Let the world back into me and on I'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again You used to be the best to make life be life to me And I hope that you're still out there and you're like you used to be We'll have ourselves a time And we'll dance 'til the morning sun And we'll let the good times come in And we won't stop 'til we're done We'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again We'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in And we'll drink and dance with one hand free And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again High life High life Back in the high life again We'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again We'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in And we'll drink and dance with one hand free And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again High life Back in the high life Oh, we'll be back

For three-years now. I have had my ass kicked by life. Every time I came up for air. I was pulled below the surface to drink the bad waters. But I would listen to this song. Back in the high life again! I have been put on the shores of life again. I can see daylight and the sun warms me once more. I can ride the rainbow of good times. Like all the rest! The fog is lifting and my mind is clear to think and act on the issues at hand. The Lord is my pilot he guides me to the greener pastures. This song is very hopeful. It helps you threw the dark days until you start to believe in yourself. Thank you Steve Winwood for your Awesome song. You are not selfish with your music and your words. Shawn

This is SO GOOD! I grew up listening to Steve Winwood on the radio even before CD players were around. I only knew a few of his songs from then but I knew every 👏 single 👏 word! More talented than ever!

I think he is right up there, with a lot of different genres that I respect, such as Beethoven, Bach, etc. Seriously, I adore him. I don't really have any philosophical comment to add because it's just pure and simple; he's an excellent talent!

Saw Steve and his band at The Bowery Ballroom in NYC a very small stand up venue(holds app 500) back in 2005. We were about 5 feet from the stage. It was like being in your friends basement. Absolutely one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended and I’ve been to many in my 66 years. Looking forward to seeing him next July (pandemic permitting) at Jones Beach with Steely Dan

Unlike some quality singers whose voices (naturally) begin to go when they get old....Steve has none of these issues.....his voice is still as fantastic as it was 50 years ago....truly a living legend

Stevie Winwood plays and sounds as beautifully on this video two years ago as he did in October 1971 when I was 18 and saw and heard him play with Traffic at Winterland in San Francisco right after George Benson played a fantastic set. One of the best concerts I've ever heard along with seeing and hearing Leon Russell in concert in Greensboro, NC a year before he died. R.I.P.

oh my you just made me remember a lot of stuff from back in the day...winterland came after Filmore West...I lived in Illinois but had a sis who lived in San Fran and went out to visit her every year...hence I got to go to the FW and W...I have nothing but great memories of those venues...I got to sit 10 feet away from the stage at the Kinetic Playground when Led Zeppelin played there...back in the late 1960s...1969...I lived in a suburb of Chicago and every Friday I filled my 1968 Mustang with friends and we went to the concerts (back then the tickets were just 5 bucks) and it was one of the best times of my young life (my brother Kerry (who died in September 1999) was my wingman and protector...we loved the concerts...I went to Woodstock in 1969 at 17 got grounded but it was worth it I miss Kerry big time...he accidently pulled his refrigerator over on him and was trapped under and died...IT BROKE MY HEART AND TO THIS DAY.....I HAVE NOT GOTTEN OVER LOSING HIM THAT WAY... needless ...all of you...love each other, take care of each other...follow the rules for this pandemic stuff...and stay safe and well....please please stay safe and well...and VOTE IN NOVEMBER TO REMOVE THAT ABSOLUTE HORROR OF A NO-NOTHING-DO-NOTHING WANNABE OUT OF OUR WHITE HOUSE!!! PLEASE...SAVE OUR COUNTRY AND PUT PEOPLE IN WHO ARE THERE FOR US...OK?

Saw Winwood at Red Rocks, 2016 playing "Can't Find My Way Home," in the pouring blowing-wind thunderstorm. He opened for Steely Dan. We the audience persisted, waiting for the sudden hail to stop pouring (while holding our hands over our heads). After it stopped and the threat of more lightening had ceased, most of us returned to our wet rock seats. What better arens to dance to Winwood? Even the icey hard baptism by Red Rocks that night was perfect (until I couldn't find my car). I finally saw Winwood in concert, and I learned that Steely Dan was another great band I'd never heard of. hope all who wish to are able to enjoy such an experience during the human lifetime.
