@@courtnayzeitler4854 well at the time it was sort of a comeback form cuz you know after traffic he had those into the early 80s with Valerie ark of a diver but then he kind of faded out for a little bit off of the pop scene he was doing some more traffic stuff and more jamming.. but then he came back with back in the High Life and then he was on top again for quite a while selling away it was sort of a comeback for him onto the charts I guess you could say

When this song came out, I knew nothing about Steve Winwood. I thought it was kinda poppy and ubiquitous and very eighties, and only later did I discover Traffic and really fall in love with his music. In retrospect, this is quite good.

Steve Winwood has a legendary voice. It's amazing how good it's remained from the Spencer Davis Group when he was a teenager up into his 70's. He posted a video 10 months ago of him singing "Gimmie Some Lovin" from the Spencer Davis Group and he still sounded great.

Although it was 32 years ago, I am 5'7 and he was shorter than me or it seemed he was. Of course he was with his then pregnant wife and she is like 6'5. We were on the stairs going out of the hotel and were going to his car and maybe the stairs were distorting his height to me. He was incredibly nice and gracious and told his manager to make sure I had a ticket waiting for me for the show. It was an awesome open to the tour. I will never forget it. It was at the amphitheater.

Finally Roll with It!!! I was 10 years old in the summer of 88 when this song dropped. It got so much air play on MTV (remember that channel that uses to play videos?). I love your explanation of how you listen to music. I grew up in the late 70s and revisiting some of the music I thought was just ok, with your attitude, brings me to a level of appreciation for what I’m hearing as a person in my 50s, rather than a teenager. Thanks for everything you do!

I've been known to pull over on the highway, turn the tunes up and get out and dance on the side of the road!!! I love Steve's voice!!! I grew up wqith the fabulous, best ever music - the 60's!!! Back when it was sheer raw talent, not al the dancers and fluff, no synthesized crap.

Jamel- check out “ I’m A Soul Man” by Sam and Dave and you’ll hear what I believe to be an influence on Steve. Also “ Shotgun” by Junior Walker and the Allstars. Soul classics.

The Memphis Horns, Andrew Love (sax) and Wayne Jackson (trumpet), on here and Sam and Dave hits. You've got a great ear and came to the right place. Both are gone now but still legends.
