Jay and Amber great song. Dancing is so much fun. I’m a 72 year old grandma and last weekend my 12 year old grandson was over. He’s very much into music and loves songs from past generations. I gave him a bunch of cds to take home to listen to. While he was here I put on a song and got him up to dance with me. Showed him some of the dance moves from my day. He loved it, I loved it. He said, “you must have danced a lot when you were younger”. I told him there was a time when I went out clubbing in the 70’s. 😊 folks get up and move and as Wilson Pickett would say “shake what you brought with you”😊

Steve Winwood has one of those unique voices...you just know it`s him. Another Steve you have to check out is Steve Perry`s solo song "Foolish Heart". Been suggesting it for over a year...along with Billy Vera-"At This Moment"...Kiss-"Beth"...and for your "Female Friday" one of the best Disco songs of the 70`s France Joli-"Come To Me"...& just for the name of the band you must check out, Dr. Buzzards Original Savanah Band-"Chez Chez Le Femme" (a big hit in the 70`s)!! I won`t suggest any more...over a year of suggesting these songs is enough. :)

I heard him say in an interview that the idea for this song and video came to him after attending Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which makes perfect sense. I was lucky enough to see him close the last day of that festival on the main stage at this festival. Steve Winwood first came to prominence with me as the front man for the Spencer Davis Group (Gimme Some Lovin'). He joined the band at the early age of 14. Of course he then moved on to Traffic (Freedom Rider, John Barleycorn Must Die) followed by a very short-lived stint with Blind Faith and finally his solo career. The apex was his "Back In The High Life" album in which every single song shines, especially "The Finer Things". I currently have his albums: Arc Of A Diver, Talking Back To The Night, Back In The High Life and Roll With It. You can't go wrong with Steve Winwood.😉 Peace & Love🕊❤

Steve Winwood is also a nice human being. I worked in his TN mansion on the lake in the 90s when it was still under construction and he invited me and the other trades people to his grand opening party. It was awesome. He hung with us and we talked about his then already long career and where he was going with it in the future and about Nashville music vs California music, where he landed after coming over from England. If you haven't checked out all his great collaborations, start with Traffic. That's, IMO, his best work.

This video was an old MTV video and it is amazing. If you watch closely, the dance partner pick his pocket in the very heat of the hot moves on the dance floor and tosses it up on the bar where an accomplice takes his money. But you've got to "Roll with it baby." Winwood is at the console of the B3. This captures some of his licks on the keyboard.

Next one should go back to Steve Winwood's beginning, Spencer Davis Group..."gimme Some Lovin'". Even at the tender age of 16, he had it, and showed the world.

For me, this song & "While You See a Chance" are my two favorite Winwood solo songs. This one was very much a return to his roots. I don't recall if you two have posted any reactions to his performances with The Spencer Davis Group, but you've got to check them out. Stevie was just a teenager when he started out with SDG. "Gimme Some Lovin," "I'm a Man," "When I Come Home," "High Time Baby," very much in the R&B/blue-eyed soul style.

Steve Winwood sang for the Spencer Davis Group back in the 60's. Check out "I'm a Man", and "Gimme Some Loving". You won't be disappointed.

Little Stevie Winwood was only 15 when he was with The Spencer Davis Group in the 1960s, along with his older brother Muff on bass.
