Hey, Steve, I'm installing some of this type of insulation at home, on a wood boiler installation, to try and cut down on heat loss in the circulating pipes. Your video was very helpful. I, like others who posted here, also had a question about how to treat the elbows, but others have suggested to cut the ends at 45 degrees, and I think I will do that. Are there manufactured fittings available made for the purpose of jacketing the elbows?

3 years late, but yes there is

I put this around a heat pipe but the tape came loose from the heat, is there such a thing as heat tape I can wrap around it?

What about the 90?
@74VDC14 жыл бұрын
What do you do to cover the 90?
@angelflores66593 жыл бұрын
You can do it with pipe by cutting it in horizontal line to a 90. Or have a PVC 90 with some dock isulation underneath.
@kajunclown10 жыл бұрын
Very nice work. Except I would have beveled the bottom a bit so it would sit flush. And you didn't rub the pressure sensitive tape with a squeegee. Put a pvc ninety and some jacketing, that's a wrap.

I would have taken the 90 in with a nice neat elbow , Its easy with a Laggers eye !!

Stuffing and a zeston fitting. Probably a 5
@RearrangeGinger6 жыл бұрын
No, that looks like 7/8 and reduces to 5/8. He doesn't dig out for the full 7/8 side so must be 7/8 X 1 which gets a number 7 Zeston or Proto fitting. Regardless 5/8, 7/8, and 1 1/8 X 1 all get number 7's.

Mike Hawk you’re absolutely right. I’ve been doing armeflex the past two months and forgot my fittings. 👍

Try a union jatc if you need to know these patterns. Why would we want nonunion knowing this?

No staples!? ;) Slam it on and rub it down with the staple gun. BAM onto the next piece. hehe. I'm a union insulator too. Nice video.

Too bad no one ever taught you to how to make a 45 degree cut on the end to cover the elbows! One cut only...rotate the pipe and you have a perfect seal Thats why we are the Hydronic specialist!
@justinplummer53856 жыл бұрын
Glen Parker how are you sealing it? White? Z tape?
@davidanchondo87065 жыл бұрын
Some are insulated with pvc fittings, stuffed with insulation first and sealed afterwards. Some are even taped at the ends. Depends on the jobsite, my school asked me to stow pipe though and then seal afterward.
@angelflores66593 жыл бұрын
Sir you forgot the 90
@gagoka121912 жыл бұрын

Thanks for the help, but do you really want to do that with your bare hands? I realize gloves make the job harder, but all the same....
@jamesclaeys31922 жыл бұрын
All wrong. Wearing an OC cap to make us think you are an OC rep? A pro would do miter joint on the elbow and a proper cove or fish-mouth on the tee.
