There was no goal in the first place. Because of the goaltender interference anything that happened after that didn't count. The ref just didn't have time between contact and the goal to blow the whistle.

I can't believe that nobody sees what I (a goalie myself) sees on that play. Before Dumoulin makes contact with Freddie's head, and before Hainsey even touches him, Dumoulin's back skate makes contact with Freddie's back leg. This stops Freddie from making his butterfly push, and thus is GOALIE INTERFERENCE!

High sticking is the same thing as goalie interference. No goal due to high sticking, no penalty. High sticking minor is still a thing. One is basically interference on the goaltender = penalty. The other is a illegal way to score a goal. I like the elbowing penalty question, it really puts things into perspective for those who may not understand fully what happened

This is different cause on has to do with touching the puck over the crossbar and the other has to do this hitting a playing in the face. Although they both involve lifting your stick to high, it is allot easier to distinguish between the penalty and no goal than goalie interference.

The hand wringing that some Leafs fans go through when we 'get a call' boggles my mind. I'm a Leafs fan - I want all the calls and I love it when we get them. I absolutely could care less if some hot head opposition coach or loud mouth fans are pissed that a call went the Leafs way. To be honest it adds a tasty sauce.

That no goal was 100% the right call. Look at where the ref was standing, he can see Duomolin make contact with freddie, then sees freddie slide out of position after the contact, which is clearly goaltender interferance. He sees the penalty and tries to call the play dead as Pitts has posession. Therefore anything that ensues after the contact with the goalie is not part of play. You can not score a goal if the play is dead when you touch the puck. Therefore nothing to review. No goal

I think for goaltender interference, it should only be called if the contact is 100% the contacters fault (i.e. not getting pushed into the goalie or net even slightly), and the player has a clear path away from the goalie (he's not being prevented from going around). Also, maybe it's time we start to be able to challenge penalties like the CFL.

They're was no review because you can't call a review on a penalty. The ref immediately waved off the goal because he was going to call a penalty and because the penguins have position of the puck, the whistle blows and it's no goal because the play was dead technically.

The reason the goal isn't even reviewable on the penalty is because the whistle is blown as soon as the reff sees it since the offending team has possession of the puck at the time of the penalty. Therefore, the puck shouldn't even cross the goal line before the whistle goes. If the whistle goes before the puck crosses the line... no goal... ever. So goaltender interference can't be reviewed since the play is blown dead as soon as the penaly happens.

Goalie interference= contact with goalie if you are in the crease. They should adopt the rule that if your foot is in the crease, the play is blown dead. That's what they are trying to implement now. This would help out so much. It would anger a lot of people, but there would be no jugement calls, if the players skate is in the crease=NO GOAL, if players skate is not in crease=GOOD GOAL.

The fact is it was a penalty, the unfortunate thing is tripping elbowing etc usually on a goalie is goalie interference, which is somewhat different from the goal reviews. that goalie interference was no different then if the puck headed to kessel while malkin slashed Kadri for a penalty and kessel shot it and went in, it would be called back like that would. a penalty happened and the goal followed it was just quick in how it happened.
