In the past from 1984-1993 (the Oilers won it all in '84, '85, '87, '88, '90 / the Canadiens in '86 & '93 / the Flames in '89) There hasn't been a Canadian Stanley Cup Champion since 1993. That 2014 LA Kings run, including that comeback against SJ - will always be one of the greatest I've ever seen. The season itself, was one of the most completive NHL seasons in a long while - the fact LA came on top despite only being a #6 seed in the West, and having 0 home ice advantage until the Final, shows you how insane their run was. The 2013-2014 season was one of the best NHL seasons.

@@cashmoney4344 Well not just that. But the entire season was extremely competitive. There were teams in the east that finished 3rd/4th, if they had been in the West, they would not have made the playoffs. That’s why that 2013-2014 NHL season was pretty stacked and crazy, and brought up how the Kings were a #6 seed in West and #9 overall and happened to have won it all without having home ice advantage, and all three first rounds went to a Game 7 on the road is a feat itself. But yes the comeback against SJ was incredible, but the playoff series against Chicago was some of the greatest hockey we have ever seen. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Ive given up hope for this season, but now im watching to see how much they love their fanbase. How much of a fight they can put up before the inevitable. Its going to decide whether or not i show up to watch these guys in the regular season. I would love to rage right now. But the fact is, no one has any idea how this sport works. Not the gms, not the coaches, not the critics or the announcers. Who the fuck had florida going on to conference finals? Yet when you watch them play, i finally understand what grit is. Its not about punching and hitting. Its something much deeper in the confidence of the way they play.

I waited 31 years for my team to hoist the Cup. Some really rough seasons, early playoff exits, all that. Then they won 4 cups inside a dozen years. Im not a Leafs fan at all but it can happen, come backs happen, you never know. When your team finally does it, nothing is sweeter because of all those earlier hard times and failures. Im pulling for the Cats in this series but Im still very nervous.

What sucks about sports is every year there’s 1 winner and 31 losers. They’re designed to break your heart. Reminder that hockey is an entertainment product, and if it’s affecting you in a negative way, there’s no shame in taking a step back.
@Imaginehello7799 Жыл бұрын
I have had to do this, just recently. After the first round I was so invested that my emotions were a wreck. Coming to terms with the fact that there's a VERY high chance that they're not making it through to the next round has been hard but necessarily. We have to let go of things we have no control over!

This LFR felt like being in the eye of a hurricane. Like, yeah, I guess it’s calm out right _now._ But you can see all the buildings damaged around you. And you can see the thick clouds of the other side of the storm approaching you. It’s terrifying. But a deeper, dreadful part of you wonders how much foundational damage there’s gonna be after this storm has fully blown over. Anyways, see y’all on Wednesday - Go Leafs Go!

Oilers fan here, This is what most of us expected honestly. Breaking the first round curse took both an emotional and physical toll not just you as as fans, but the players too. If management can resist the urge to trade away your top core guys and retool for next season your run next year will be not to break the first round curse but to go deep. Winning in round 1 next year will not be pure ecstasy but relief followed by determination. Stay strong.

As a leafs fan I admire your team. Your best players can take over a game cause they actually card. Mcdavid and Drai and 1000x then all all good players if you can even call them good. I may have just watched my last leaf game. I can’t take the stress and I can’t take being the punch-line of every joke. Hopefully the oilers can bring the cup back to Canada cause my fraud leafs will never

The fact that their Top players all have 0 points this series so far is worrying for the leafs though. Even with absolutely no one contributing on the bottom 2 lines for the avalanche, MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Makar all contributed significantly in their first round loss. The leafs really need their top players to actually contribute this series.

I'm an Oilers fan to and have been watching this series as well. I'm so sad for my family and friends in Toronto that are suffering through this. It would not be so painful to watch, if the majority of the team actually tried/cared enough to put forward a strong effort - even with a loss. I obviously don't know for sure if that was the Leaf's best effort - but it sure did not appear to be in this game 3. It's seems that the dream of an all Canadian final are dashed for now. Hope Leaf's can win back some respect and put in a solid effort for Game 4 - even if they lose Game 4.

From a Wings fan. I read the comments here and yes! I agree! The fact of knowing your team CAN win versus CANNOT is what makes losing here worse. Matthew's is in the prime of his years for an NHL forward and I know if he gets hot he can carry but I feel like a lot of his juice looks used up on the first 2 games. We shall see. Good luck to both teams moving forward

I'll admit, I was one of the sickos who tuned in for the Zamboni Goalie'd game out of sheer spectacle, but over the years I've been led to root for the Leafs if for no other reason than Dangle's health, well-being, and sanity.
