A Big Thank You to our Armed Forces: The one that got away.

Happy Veterans day to everyone who served. This video is dedicated to you.
While making these videos throughout the years I never imagined they would affect so many folks in the armed forces but more and more folks that are deployed have reached out to me to thank me for the videos as they tell me it brings them a little piece of home back to where they are deployed. Its has become an honor for me to make the videos now that i understand the impact I never knew I had. I pray for each and every one to return safe and thank each and every one who is serving or has served in the past. Thank you so much for your brave service to our country . This ones for you.

Thanks for the Veterans Day shout out, you are welcome.I was a sub sailor in the 70's. heck of a ride, wouldn't have missed it for the world. I am happy that today's troops are getting better treatment than in days gone by. As to losing that fish, I know how you feel, getting that ol fish headed your direction and then, sudden slack.,sux.It could be worse, I managed to hit a fish my wife was trying to land hard enough with the net to cause it to get off, it got real quiet on our boat for a while.LOL keep the good videos coming.

I have been back home for a while and have a medical discharge for my back and PTSD. I don't have a boat or truck anymore but I have found that bank fishing for catfish calms the beast. (reformed bass fisherman). I hooked a 22 pound blue in Toledo Bend, I am officially ruined from bass fishing. I have that 22, an 18, and a 16 all from the bank in the last few months. If my VA benefits ever go through I fully intend to do some drifting. Thnx for sharing your hard earned knowledge.

On top of every thing else, your 4 foot drift pattern is a great idea. You have a good spread and you aren't dragging two baits over the same spot. A good name would be the shotgun spread. I guess if you find the fish on on pole you can concentrate on that spot later.

+Bryce Coffman bryce i use the #10's now, the fish were swimming up into the water column making it tuff to hook them, the hooks are good, sometimes it just not meant to be. We cant catch them all the time, then it would be called catchin instead of fishin, lol Thanks for stopping by

lol, i love at about 6:15 in, you show the diagram of the 4' accross, where the catfish is down on the bottom. That catfish is about 7' long :) He's probably the one that got away!

once again awesome video Steve. there is a hook I use that will penetrate that bone and are super strong and sharp there called double action circle hooks by team Catfish in Oklahoma. I've tried so many hooks for cats and these hooks put them all to shame

Steve, why do you think you were getting hooked in the tooth patch? Figure out a way to combat the fish swimming up with the bait? Still using the mustad demon circles? Drifted for blues with skipjack about 18 miles (on the river) west of Brandenburg last weekend. I had about dozen questions I wish I could have asked you. Haha. Still hit 5. 3 little fellers and 2 a little better. You still thinking about doing a "fishing with Steve" giveaway? That would be incredible. +DieHardCards still working on that issue of swimming up as they dont do it often but yes sir i still use the mustads as sometimes its an angler error and the hooks not to blame, I have had 99.9 percent success with the mustads so i cant give them up just cause i miss a fish or two. thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.

Yeh, it's been a while since you posted this video and it's been a while to find it. Just want to thank you for acknowledging the military people. Not many folks do that any more. Thank you. Never forget the main idea is to release the fish in the best condition possible. there's a reason you match tackle to your target species. you have a responsibility to the life on the other end of the line.

Chicken liver works well a lot of times for channel cats. Steve typically targets blues and sometimes flatheads. Not saying it wouldn't catch a fish but all three of those have different bait preferences and it isn't going to be the optimum bait.
