Transcript: opentheo.org/i/5467369947627944202/the-sovereignty-of-god-in-scripture-part-1 In this discussion, Steve Gregg tackles the concept of God's sovereignty and its role in Scripture, particularly its relation to Calvinism. He explains the classical view of Augustinian Calvinism, which suggests that everything that happens is foreordained by God, while also acknowledging the mystery of God's ways. Gregg argues against the idea that God is a micromanager, noting that God allows free will while still guiding the direction of events. He also highlights the tension between God's desire for all to be saved and his active intervention in the lives of the elect, which some interpretations of Calvinism teach.

Because He is sovereign God, He decided to give humans free will. Frank Turek put it this way, God loves you so much that He doesn't force you to be with Him. I believe that God cannot demonstrate His love to humans if He force us to serve Him or to love Him, for me that isn't love.

Excellent way to put it. Sad that Christians can agree on this. That truly is the biggest dilemma in the last 2000 years. Or really the last 1500 since Augustine. Why can't Calvinist and non-calvinist agree on this? Seriously, really wonder about this

It's serious question about character of God as well as our input in His plan ... quite substantial issue

Brother Steve, I really enjoy your teachings and I believe it's a gift you have from The Lord. God always raised people at times to bring understanding. I am really ignorant to all these types of thoughts of Calvanist, arminian, pre or post tribulations etc. I just read my Bible and sometimes come across bible teachers such as yourself but I don't get caught up with these philosophies. I do have a different take when it comes to God hardening Pharaoh's heart. God told Moses: Then Yahweh said to Moses, “See, I set you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. I set you as God to Pharaoh so I take this, that Moses came to Pharaoh making demands, telling him what to do or else. I believe that Moses approached, claims and demands and the treads, contributed for Pharaoh to become stubborn and refusal so his heart was harden. For example: I want to be intimate with my wife but she doesn't feel the same way at the time and I take the position that, but the bible says that you don't own your body....etc so you can't refuse. I would think this approach would harden her heart in the same way. Sometimes as a church, we also do this when we push our doctrines instead of just teaching the Word and let God bring conviction to the hearts. Some churches like to put themselves in the place of the Holy Spirit.

I believe Eternal God is absolutely sovereign! But He has also given man free will that is limited by Gods sovereignty.

Jesus clearly says he’ll was made for Satan and his demons, was not made for man. Only by rejecting the life Christ offers us, do we end up there.

Calvinists are taught to answer every argument against their twisted theology with the same talking points that it begins to sound like a scratched record. Their FAVORITE go-to theme is God's "sovereignty" over everything and to think that He gives us a choice in choosing Christ takes away His sovereignty. How about God is so sovereign and secure within Himself that He allows man the freewill to accept or reject Christ? Amazing that Calvinists cannot see this. So let me get this straight...we take away God's Glory because we believe He allows us to choose? How anyone can fall for this "other gospel" theology is beyond me.
