This video shows how to color resin on a budget - can you use chalk? experiment. I think anyone who uses resin will be interested in seeing the results of this experiment. I wasn't sure if this would work, so i had to try it. the chalks were so cheap that I didn't have anything to lose. I was shocked by the results that happened. I am sure you will be to.
It is really easy to turn the children's coloured chalk into a powder, so that was definitely an advantage while trying this out with my resin. Although I might get in trouble when I take the pestle and mortar back into the house LOL. But I can cope for my experiments with a telling off. So you don't miss out on future videos, remember to hit that subscribe button and notification bell.

I was thinking that if you sifted the chalk with a fine sifter, then maybe you won’t get the lumps 😊 Btw, the mortar is the bowl and the the pestle is what you hold in your hand 😃

I just watched a KZbin video of nail technicians starting to use chalk to color their acrylic nails. So I was wondering if it would work in resin, NOW I KNOW!!! I homeschooled my daughter and I have a butt load of chalk, even some with glitter in it. Guess I know what I’m doing today! 🤪

I really love the texture it could add to a piece. You could use the chalks for a texture within a mica colored piece. The suncatcher is very pretty with a kinda universal look to it. If you were making a sky or galaxy-inspired piece that could work to give it the texture it needs. I'm gonna be using this with some other technics and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the video and the idea of using chalks!

Wowed big time!! That’s a whole other look! If the chunky stuff was sifted out it would be smooth.. if it’s left chunkier more effects like your coaster happen. Wow 🤩 Now I’m wondering what might happen if I added drips of tints or color or dabbled micas etc onto to chunky bits & let them dry before dropping it onto the resin. I love your experiments! They set my mind off in all directions👌💯💯👏👏👏 Thanks 😊 is

I have used glitter glue, on some projects if it's on the top you can feel it, but if for example you do a thin plain resin, then add some glue let it dry to nearly set, then add the top resin coat, so the glue is in the middle, you can get some interesting effects. Thankyou as aways for you video I am going to try this.

Great discovery. There are a lot of chalks out there, including so-called artist chalks, which are highly pigmented and come in great colors. The coaster is worthy of Jackson Pollock and much better than Rothko. I am headed for Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but there are some inexpensive chalks on Amazon, too.

I know this is 2 years later but I have been watching you for a few months. Maybe using a medium in the chalk to loosen it before it goes into resin. Maybe a little bit of alcohol not sure what else to use. To make it a liquid not to much. I do like the speckles in it wonder if you can make a turquoise stone look with it. Thank you for doing this experiment.

Another thing I've used is pastel chalks. Like chalk, it is best to mix and let sit a few minutes for the sediment to sink. I love your experiments. I have good luck with them and eye shadow as well. I usually use a fingernail to scrape. I asked a ? on another video, but I'll ask it again...When you spray your molds with release conditioner, do you let it dry before pouring or not? Thanks

Woaw you did great again..... 🎉👍 I once tried and BIG FAILED although the powder was smooth 😭 I don't know why..... The failed part was, when the resin cured, there are a lot of chalk powder that was not blend with resin like it didn't sink as if it wasn't mix properly, like you can scratch it and it's still a powder. I don't know why because I mix them properly and looks blending just like you too but my results was failed 😭😭

I think I would sprinkle the chalk over the molds from a sifter and I would use much less of the chalk so that you could really see the different colored speckles easily. On the coaster you could only see the speckles at the edges. In the middle it looked very dark.
