Garnet and Kris are right about relationships. I've never been in a relationship, but it's not healthy to be completely dependant on someone. My perception is that everyone has their issues, but they shouldn't rely on their partner to fix them. Rather, their partner should help them help themselves, and do the same for their partner, if that makes any sense. I'm probably just reiterating the points already made, but it was important to me to say this.

THANK YOU, Dr. Maheswaran! You FINALLY addressed the elephant in the room. It’s as clear as water that Steven has some kind of PTSD. Change the meme with “Steven Needs Connie’s Mother” RIGHT NOW! And now everything is spiraling out of control 😱 And I’ll tell you why: “With being cared comes great guilt”. At least that’s what Steven is thinking. People like him would rather DIE than being a burden, whether for real or not.

Steven spent his adolescence fighting enemy gems and home world, knowing close to nothing about humane culture. He's 16! And he doesn't know that 16 year olds can't just marry each other for the fun of it. It's an interesting aspect of his character on Rebecca and the Crewniverses part to show how he can be so mature, yet still clueless on everyday topics!

OK, as scary as Growing Pains was? I LOVE that the went over childhood trauma and how any kinda truama is more than just physical or emotional. It's a combo of physical, mental, and emotional and that sticks with someone. Just cuz you heal externally doesn't mean that it's 100% better. Believe me. I went through a lot at just 5 years old. Wasn't till I was in freshman year of college did all the different forms of truma (from itty bitty 5 year old me till 20 year old me) start to slow down and trigger me less. @@alexanderarieatas155 Oh my trumas didn't relate to my parents. They were environmental. Example? When I was five? A tornado hit at my sister's baseball game. In the midst of the chaos? I ended up being seperated from them. We found eachother thanks to friend of my family. In first grade? I accidentally cut my ankle on the door before school. In 6th grade? My mental breakdown that lead to a suicide attempt was because both myself and my parents didn't know how to address my problems. So I was hospitalized a few times throughout my middle & highschool years. More recently? I was a attacked by a pitbull that was harrassed by kids in the neighborhood. Took a good two years to even feel safe walking past the spot where it happened. Point is I may have recovered physically but I do still get scared during spring and summer because it's tornado season. I still get scared when I cut myself on something metal because the door I cut myself on was metal. I get livid when people treat bullying and suicide like a joke. I still have issues with pitbulls and when large dogs jump at me.

It's nice to see the show is actually doing research and getting things right. If anything, this whole Steven comparing his issues to first world problems reminds me of an anime called Violet Evergarden. It's about a former child soldier becoming a typist and reintegrating herself into normal human society. It's a little extreme but it shows a person going from life and death missions to understanding basic human emotions and taking time to realise and process the death of her best friend. It also doesn't help that, in cases like Steven seeing his tie duplicates or Lars die, it was either time restoring itself to normal or Lars coming back to life less than a minute later. There was no time or people around to process things. It also makes meta sense because, following the trial bomb, there was a six month gap where the first episode back wasn't Steven processing the fact Lars was alone with the off coloured gems but helping Mayor Dewey in an election. It's like the writers are understanding the consequences of not giving Steven time to process things in the past.

For those saying it was a yes but not now...it was a rejection..he didn't not just ask her to marry him...he asked her to live as a fusion to give her entire existence to their fusion, to give her sense of self, and while she has shown to like being stevonie for short periods of time, that's the point the Fusion always breaks even when its having fun while Garneta Relationship fusion of Aliens who live like that only used to break when they got hurt or had a real fight amongst themselves... What he asked is "lets stop existing and become one. He is half-alien, he might have been raised by aliens but they are teens and Connie is actually smart both intellectually and emotionally (most of the time, her acting in homeworld almost got them killed) so she would, of course, reject him but try not to hurt him

I needed to pause this ep several times it was HARD to watch but it was necessary I have seen too many YT comments saying that Connie should be there to fix Steven with is TOXIC she is there to help him out by taking him to seek medical help and inform his Guardian when he is too sick to do so himself with is the best move. I really love how they explain Steven's mental state and how Connie reacted. The saddest thing is that EVERYONE wants to be there for Steven but he just cannot accept outside help being to focused on being the one who helps I both have seen that in loved ones and lived trough version of this myself so I both appreciated what the show does and feel real bad watching it. Great video and great companion pace to the ep lots of good advice keep up the good work

Beautiful analysis. I'm 28 and after suffering from mental illness for the last 20+ years and being in extreme mental distress almost daily for the last 3, this past week I finally got up the courage to talk to my bosses and tell them I need to go take some time off for my mental well-being. I went back and forth with my Dr's office a lot and I have my referral in place for weeks of extensive outpatient therapy that I desperately need...but then a national emergency was declared and now I have no idea when I'll finally be able to get the help I so desperately need!

3:53 I think he just thought of fusion in that moment, because at that moment he was probably thinking of how well it worked for Garnet, and then just internally panicked and sounded like a total creep

“This is an insane proposition for a human!” NO ####ING ####! This is the one time I was fully on Connie’s side in this case! Also, Steven is going to become Inevitable! With an Infinity Gauntlet!... and a big purple chin!

Yeah, for a long time I thought Steven Universe was a kiddie show for kiddie... kids, but this was a heavy topic for adults, both young and old. It really made me want to sit back and think things over... want to, but I... thought to myself "I'm not ready for any kind of relationship. I just want to stick to my lonesome." but... that answer... kind of hurts. I respect adult Steven for laying the mental groundwork for this sort of inquiry. 😊😊

I relate a lot to Steven. I have ptsd, a lot of big trauma moments. At around the age 16, I had a major meltdown which ended up with me seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist. I am 19 now and doing a lot better than I was then.

are there really people who believe you don't have to love yourself before you love someone else? How can you love someone else but not yourself? How can you love someone properly if you dont love yourself, because you dont know what real healthy love feels like? I dont get it

Danni Inman I was pretty surprised myself. In my other discussions, folks have said that you don’t need to love yourself. It was heart breaking to read. Hoping those people learn to like who they are ❤️

Kris Carr I hope those people are learning that they can’t love others without loving themselves because they’ll just be looking for acceptance in those people. Those people will never be able to replace the love they deserve from themselves. Also I love your channel so much thank you for replying to me I feel so honored 🖤❣️

I was thinking of when Steven was naked in the doctor wondering would it be bad if he was embarrassed unlike in the first season in the frybo episode I mean is it better to have embarrassment or not just wondering
@rhondahoward80254 жыл бұрын
Little kids run around naked all the time but as they grow up get more self-conscious about it, so it's perfectly normal development. If Steven were _overly_ anxious about removing his clothes, you could bring up the possibility of sexual abuse like with some kids, but obviously that's not the case here.

These episodes were too real. This show is getting so heavy, but it's seriously making me consider and reflect on my own actions. I know that feeling of not wanting to impose myself on other people's happiness, so I'm glad I had the mental stability and foresight to seek professional help. Watching these episodes would have also kicked me in the butt enough to do it too

Remember when Steven was weak and dying in ‘Change Your Mind’? Well, what if the only reason why he was dying was because his fractures weren’t being consistently healed by his gem half? If he gets rid of those scars, can he take out his gem half and live as a human rather than a gem?

I think its important to make the distinguishmemt that steven doesnt have typical post traumatic stress disorder, he has a rare form of layered post traumatic anxiety his brain chemistry has rewired itself to be ready for a situation where he could die at any time, i also suffer from this and i can tell you even after you start unpacking the issues recovery if possible takes years, and the person will always have a nagging feeling of anxiety and hyper aware senses, couple that with his explosive gem powers. Its not a good combo, i remembered when is started trauma therapy it involved multiple breakdown, mental fits, spats of severe depression, anger, i even ran away a couple of times. I dont think the show os goong to go the route of all this but if they want to portray it well, steven wont be feeling hunky doory by the end of future more likely it will show the start of his journey to mental wellness.

Fragments makes me think of the cluster or the forced fusion shards they bubbled. Like are they still there or did they release ALL the bubbles? Mr. Universe makes me think about Steven trying to use Steg as a crutch now that his dad is back.
