One of the better Ram 1500 setups I've seen. Thanks for showcasing her. I'm curious, have you put any consideration into upgraded brakes given the 35" tires, and later the 37"s? I just saw this and I'm looking for my next Overland platform. I have a few questions about your setup. 1) What kind of range do you get with the truck between fill ups? 2) How long do you think you could live off grid with this for 1 person, 2, or what ever capacity you designed it for? 3) Is there anything you would change, add, or delete?

Chris Strandt this truck has changed quite a bit since this video I’m actually working a second version rig tour.. this setup I was getting on average 8.8 mpg and ranging anywhere from 260 miles to the tank to 270 miles. With the new lightweight winch bumper, sliders, and new lift I’m getting 10.8 mpg. As for live-ability with the new lion energy gear powered by RedArc the sky’s the limit haha all that stuff is on our website if you wanna know more about it.. but in this current setup I think I’ve rocked a solid 6 days. Put it this way you will run outta water before you run outta juice haha and I’m rocking 22.5 gallons of on board water. As for changing things up.. all I can say is I’ve already made those changes so stay tuned for Rig Tour 2.0 haha.

Hey guys, great job 👍 I have a question... Can you make me a cage like rack for my dogs? I have two giant dogs and i want something secure and at the same time not a traditional camper shell. Something like a cage, that will jeep them safe from jumping over and at the same time open enough so they can enjoy fresh air and open view. Hey brother does your year ram use leaf springs or like normal springs? I have a 2016 rebel I deleted the air ride on bilstien 6112's front 5100 rear with the icon 1.5 lift spring, but I feel like the rears on these trucks don't hold weight well without sagging. Mines my daily driver so I'm like inbetween on wheel sizes. Rebels come with 285 70 17's (32.8) I switched to a 285 75 17 about a 33.5. Now I'm debating going 35's or 315 which measure out from what I've read to a 34.6-34.8. I did see someone step up to a 18 and go 285 75 18's which I guess measure out to around 35.1. So many decisions.

This thing must be maxed out as far as carrying capacity goes, that bumper is easily 200 pounds with the winch, another 100 for the back bumper, another probably 200 for the bedslide with fridge and 5g gas tanks, say 300 for the bedrack and roof rack, then 400 for the rtt and other accesories thats 1200 pounds! These trucks in 4x4 with hemi only have a payload of 1200 pounds

RTT is 176. Bed slide and fridge 100. You’re over estimating, but yes this thing fully loaded is not light. But it hasn’t reached the payload capacity. Also, we have a new bumper from Chassis Unlimited. Much lighter.

There are just a couple storage boxes I found on eBay. I believe they were $100 a piece I bought weather striping and made them water tight

Awesome build. Any rubbing issues with 35's and the suspension you have? Some trimming involved? I just got a 1500 so very curious.

Thank you this is the second Ram we’ve had the pleasure of building.. as far as the rubbing goes my left tire rubbed on the inner lining.. that’s because I’m missing a few plastic clips lol.. but no trimming at all.. at the time of filming this rig tour we have changed out the suspension completely.. core 4x4 upper and lower control arms.. and added Eibachs Pro Lift .. with a sweet kicker the rear has 2500 shocks to hold the extra weight! @@TrailBendersOverland interesting, I have a very similar setup on my ram 1500 2015 crew cab 4x4 6’5 bed but with a high clearance front bumper and a high clearance rear bumper, Canopy camping setup and a yeti 105 over the fridge so I can take it out of the truck by my camp chef pro90x where i do all the cooking. And a hooke road roof rack, Im also pretty maxed out on capacity and I sag at the rear, what shocks did you get for the rear? Im currently running 5100s preset to 2.5, been looking at the increased capacity coil springs? Also did the 37s clear with just a level? I have 35s on right now and i bought 37s but waiting to mount them, running prerunner fenders as well to Help with clearance

I am currently building my out for off-roading / 'overlanding'. :) I pull a trailer with a tractor on it from time to time and just loaded down trailers. I have put TufTruck springs in the rear. They are AMAZING! I do not sag anymore ever. They have a couple different options. 1 is for added weight sometimes and the other springs is for added weight perm. For instance, always having a bed cap on or something. I also have the Timbren bump stops and thinking about airbags within the new rear springs. Anyways - hope this helps from another Ram offroader. I use it for my everyday driver as well so comfort is important to me.

We actually pulled that one off and put on a chassis unlimited bumper. This was one much too heavy and didn’t really help clearance or approach angle. The chassis unlimited bumper is much better for off road.

I have a 1500 also and have the same 5100 In the front. I was told not to max it out without changing the upper control arm so the ball joints don't pop out? Any issues? Also, id like to know about the rack please

I ran the 5100’s maxed out and found no issues.. if I was you I’d look into the Eibach pro lift.. it’s what I have now.. soooo much better 🙌🏻

It especially won’t cause any issues if you runs them maxed with stock springs. If you use lift springs that’s a different story

All good, I am a comms guy so forgive me. But it's like buying the absolute cheapest Chinese tires money can buy instead of BFG's, Toyos, etc. As well, if you ever expect to use your radio in an emergency, say if you were outside of cell range, the limited range of a ~5 Watt portable versus a 50 Watt mobile can be quite limiting. Either way, thanks for the video!
