Ok, but that's just the equivalent of a sex doll. They don't have human biology so how did Rose "reproduce" with Greg? THIS is one of the many world building flaws in the show. Gems are basically smart computers with projected bodies. Their bodies have no biolgical function, they are purely aesthetic. So how do they cry? Or "digest" with stomach acid and enzymes? And most importantly: how do they fuck humans?

Alright I looked it up. Darwin Waterston was consistently voiced by Black Child Voice Actor. To run down the list he was voiced by; Kwesi Boakye Terrell Ransom, Jr. Donielle T. Hansley Jr. Christian J. Simon The only exception to this is from Early Reels where Darwin was voiced by Jake Pratt. ALSO: 12:51 “Why can’t I watch that instead? I remember hearing about Steven Universe in college and thinking it was kinda meh. I watched a few episodes eventually and thought it was cute, so I began to watch it whenever it came on. It grew on me, especially later on in the show (once Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem aired I think). But as time went on, the episodes weren’t able to air very often between Teen Titans Go taking up 85% of Cartoon Network’s airtime, and the situation of the network basically canceling the show (meaning the ending of Steven Universe was rushed, and Steven Universe Future ended up with way too few episodes), it was kinda sad seeing how the show gets treated by fans and non-fandom members. While the show definitely could have been better if it hadn’t been forced to close out with such a poorly written ending, I still enjoy what we did get. There’s still things we don’t know and can speculate on as well.

Okay so forgive me if I get anything wrong since I actually haven't watched a single episode of SU, besides the ones that came on TV when I was younger and I barely remember anything from them. If I'm correct, Steven Universe kept going on ridiculously long hiatuses, it was literally just tedious at this point. The longest hiatus was 6 months, and when they finally get an episode after waiting for oh so long it turns out it's some crappy filler episode about the citizens of Beachtown or something (wich literally nobody cares about). Or wasting episodes on Lars fucking dying, getting revived and turning into a space captain thing. That was literally so unnecessary. If Lars turning into a captain had anything, anything at all to do with the lore and plot then please tell me. The amount of useless episodes wasted on the uninteresting citizens of Beachtown was unnecessary, especially since they could literally just show a character die, go on a two month hiatus then come back with the shittiest filler episode that was completely and utterly useless. They snuck in filler episodes between lore and plot episodes, aka the interesting ones which most viewers here want to see. I may be wrong but I don't think someone would want to watch a whole episode dedicated to Mayor Dewey or something, if they had to choose between that or the interesting "big bad" of this series, White Diamond, I think they'd personally pick her. Now White Diamond. She makes me so mad. Or rather the writers make me mad. Because if I'm not wrong, SU set an image for WD: The big bad villian, who is immensely powerful, mysterious and esoteric. Then they show us like two-three episodes of her. Which I'm certain end in her acting like a child, getting redeemed DESPITE BEING A FUCKING SPACE NAZI, WHAT IS WRONG WITH SUGAR??? WHY DID ALL THE DIAMONDS GET REDEEMED DESPITE BEING GENOCIDAL NAZIS?? WD was literally like: "Haha I'm perfect and I destroy you" Steven: "no" WD: "*has a tantrum then learns that nobody is perfect or smth dawg idk I didn't watch the show (yet here I am writing an essay about it)*" Steven: "Are you sorry" WD: "Yes" Steven: "Okay since you're sorry then it's all good🥰" This with literally all the Diamonds, too. They could've scrapped that whole Lars space captain thing and left more episodes to WD. But nooooo, since Sugar thinks that these background characters are more interesting and deserve an episode each. Anyways if I missed a few points feel free to call me out, although frankly I don't think anyone is going to see this and if they do I doubt they'd read this kind of, "rant", if you will. I might just be making a fool of myself, but I really have to say, as someone who hasn't even watched SU, it really sucks. (most of it.) Anyways bye

Lars dying and being revived was the key to not only his redemption arc but Steven's way home, since his hair and lion's mane acted as a gate/portal, which steven could pass through any time. There are barely any filler episodes in this show, almost every episode has foreshadowed something. The diamonds were never forgiven, Steven never said it was okay and what they did was okay, but there's nothing they can even do to punish the diamonds, Steven is smart enough not to start a war with a smaller and weaker army, so he pretended to forgive them, he even looks uncomfortable around them as seen in the movie and SUF. You can't be judging a show without watching it lol

I still go back to this show and think about the basically time travel episode. Even if you can't change the past with it why couldn't the Diamonds have just gone back in time, spied on Pink the day she was shattered, and then used this knowledge in the current time. It feels like it would have saved them a lot of hassle and would have made the Pink Diamond reveal impossible. Of course this means the show would have to make them competent instead of telling us how powerful and scary they are. After a while the show felt like it had no real threats.

I have to say there isn’t a video of yours they doesn’t leave me laughing! I know the “watch a show and react to it” genre has gotten a bad name from the amount of people that barely “react” at all and are just trying to cash in on people who want to watch a show for free (usually the young ones that don’t know how to torrent yet) but you three are the perfect example of how transformative and hilarious entertainment reaction content can genuinely be, you guys bounce off each other’s jokes so well. I personally am not the biggest fan of season 1 of SU but it has its moments here and there. Also I no longer question how Steven was born cause it brings up way to many questions with it. Like he’s both human from Greg and Gem from Rose but Rose is made of pure light so how did Greg put his hot dog into her donut? Does she even have a donut? If Roses gem was somewhere else like her forehead would Steven have a belly button since she technically doesn’t have a womb? What happened when he was born, did she just go into the gem? How does his anatomy work? There’s clearly no veins or anything attached to the gem since he doesn’t bleed from it but he also needs it as he was slowly dying without it (being as vague as possible in case of spoilers).

It's never explained because the writers never thought about the mechanics of how a Human and a Gem could breed. There's no biological matter in a Gem to make impregnation, gestation or pregnancy even possible. Here is my explanation: Steven IS Rose Quartz. In the same way Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond. Rose used Gem Morphing (most commonly shown by Amethyst) to have sex with Greg. She then used it to fake that she was pregnant, and after 9 months she poofed herself to turn into Steven. We never see Rose Quartz think back on her time as Pink Diamond, she may have used the memory-erasing Scythe weapon that we see Spinel use (which is confirmed by Bismuth to not be a weapon unique to her) on herself to wipe her memories shortly after her faked shattering. She likely used it again to turn herself into Newborn Steven, explaining his lack of memories. This is reinforced by "The Message" Rose Quartz left for Steven "When you feel loved, that's me loving, being YOU" - Rose Quartz was leaving a message to herself in the future. Steven.

Not SU related, but since y'all got into a mini-argument about it...Darwin is a black-coded character. (KINDA SPOILER) In every iteration where he's drawn as human, canonically, on CN (except for that one time in the fanfiction episode), he's black. He's also only been voiced by black kids. You're right that it is a representation of a black kid being adopted into non-black family. As well, Nicole is coded as Asian and Richard is coded as white, making Anais and Gumball coded as Wasian. Media codes things like this all the time, especially cartoons. It's a very interesting topic. Steven isn't black or black coded, though. Greg is coded as Jewish, so Steven coded as half-Gem, half-Jewish, or mixed.

I used to like su but looking back at it now the show was messy. The human episodes were boring filler,Pearls entire character was destryes after we found out rose was pink diamond because instead of the story of an independent pearl breaking free from her diamond to rebbel she ended up following her diamond and not bwing able to let her go. like EVERY other pearl would have done in the show,The pacing was weird,the gross and adult cn jokes ugh, steven being everyones therapist. It has so many flaws i only actually liked it for the design and idea

Let's be real. Pearls situation with Rose being Pink made a lot more sense. It may not be ideal or the most exciting but it makes sense. It even makes some episodes cut deeper like Rose's Scabbard. Rewatching that episode with the context of Rose being Pink makes lines like "You can't understand how I feel! None of you had what we had!" sting even harder. Or how, in Space Race, Pearl wanted to show Steven space the same way she showed Pink Earth. All the pieces fit together. It makes sense.

Pearl was allied with Rose Quartz from the very beginning of the rebellion (as shown in the Rose's Scabbard holorecording), so unless she abruptly renounced allegiance to Pink Diamond or White Diamond to follow Rose despite being bluntly warned of the consequences, she probably was strongly devoted to Rose long before the rebellion. I had believed that Rose Quartz may well have been the one directly responsible for creating the Prime Kindergarden and the plan which envisaged a sterilized Earth being the greatest Gem colony imaginable. That this turned out not to have been the case never diminished my regard for the series, even if it lessened somewhat the sharpness of the guilt claimed by Rose/Pink.

The first few episodes are always cringy or weird. If you watch the entire show, you’re more likely to enjoy the show. And besides, no need to spoil some of the most important things in the show as it is all explained later on. Yes, there are human focused episodes are uninteresting for most (basically fillers), but all the gem episodes are the good stuff. Especially when new gems are introduced!
