What's good everybody and welcome back to brand new video for you guys here today, we're back on the next episode of "Steven Universe" Season 5 WOO. For today's episode Steven send a letter to Lars to update him on the changes in beachcity, then Steven founds out that Lapis is on the Moon, and lastly Steven helps Pearl locate her cell-phone inside her head, however he finds something else that changes everything. I love the detail of Pearl covering her mouth whenever she is about to reveal something, as it shows that she physically was incapable of saying it. Pink’s last order to Pearl was to never reveal Pink’s secret, and she covered Pearl’s mouth when she gave it. Pearl also never shapeshifted after the “shattering” out of embarassment

All the clues are there with Pearl if you look back. Her space suite has a pink diamond. She covered her mouth when they were looking at the projection of the Earth hollowed and when Eyeball said that Rose killed Pink. She did it again when Steven was a baby and Amethyst said Rose was trying to change back to her old self. She knew about the moon base and zoo

To be sure, we knew from Rose's Scabbard that Rose Quartz and Pearl were tight at the very beginning of the rebellion, and that Rose had some kind of authority over Pearl to make it necessary in Rose's eyes to give Pearl the choice to join the rebellion or not. Pearl's jump suit didn't seem that important, since if she was serving Rose Quartz her costume would have Pink Diamond's insignia on it anyway. However, it did make me think that maybe Rose and Pearl didn't hate Pink Diamond that much if Pearl didn't feel disgust at wearing PD's insignia, unless it was merely for nostalgia's sake when she and Rose were together before the rebellion.

There's also some inconsistencies going back to season one. The major one I can think of is how Amethyst said that Rose was made on Earth. In the episode "Rose's Scabbard" we see a private conversation between Pearl and Rose that says she'll never be able to go home. Assuming the home she's talking about is Homeworld, why would she say that if Rose was made on Earth? There's also the later inconsistency that Bismuth said that her sword was designed specifically to not shatter gems. That tidbit of information came directly from the person who made it so it was definitely true. So Rose shattering Pink with a sword didn't make sense either.

Pearls forms in nature in layers, so it makes sense the part of the pearl inside other pearls. This means that Steven is a diamond. This explains why Steven has so much powers and himself being so powerful and strong. And this also explains why Pearl hasn’t shapeshifted in any instance since “shattering” Pink Diamond. Men this is THE best episode of SU, I remember when I was and what was doing when this episode came out, the shock in my face. There was theories since the second season that Rose was Pink but everyone in the fanbase thought it was stupid and impossible, but if you pay attention there’s clues in a lot of episodes. So many revelations came into light in this last episode. The reason why Pearl NEVER shapeshifts, likely stems from the only other time she had to being to mimic Rose. Also, a lot of people seemed to forget during the trial, when Blue revealed that Pink was shattered with Rose's sword, that Bismuth said that Rose's sword was made intended that it could never destroy a gem. So how would it have been able to shatter Pink? These are just a couple of the many MANY hints the show had leading to this ultimate reveal. It's always satisfying to go back to

A lot of things makes sense when you look back on everything after this. Heck even that attorney gem who defended Steven at Homeworld was was going in the right direction: it wouldn't make any sense as to how Rose could have gotten close to Pink at the moment of her shattering. It was technically an inside job, just like that gem stated!

The fact pearl says she wanted to tell for so long shows just how impactful the secret was on her. Hundreds and thousands of years is usually like nothing to a gem, but Steven is only 14 and she probably hasn't even wanted to tell him for that whole time. So the fact she considers it to be "for so long" shows how every moment suffering the burden of hiding the truth seems like an eternity. This also goes for all the gems when there is strong emotions (positive or negative) where the strength of the emotions makes the small amount of time seem a lot more important than the thousands of years just doing their job like any other of the same gem type would.

After the Rose is Pink Diamond reveal, fans everywhere started treating her like a criminal that's worse than Putin...all except for ME. Hear me out...Rose DID make a bad decision by hiding who she really was but she only did it because she couldn't achieve her goals as Pink. I especially love how misdirected we were. There were theories in season one of Rose being Pink Diamond but those were basically all thrown out when we were told that Rose shattered her. They did a really good job of redirecting our focus away from various inconsistencies laid out before us.

25:00 - My face is like Pearl’s face when she showed Steven his mom’s secret armory because I love seeing other people’s reactions to Steven Universe Season 5 episode 18 since it is like I am able to experience this moment again from the reactor’s point of view. For the reason that a good majority of comments point out why Pearl doesn’t shape shift in the show, I would like to point out that the reason Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond bubbled Bismuth is because Bismuth considered using the Breaking Point to shatter the Diamonds which would be her original family. However it may have inspired Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond to come up with faking her shattering. I would like to give credit to the reactor TheFlamingShark for figuring this plan out first. Rose Quartz and Pearl first encountered Cotton Candy Garnet after Pink Diamond was "shattered", and Bismuth already had a history with Garnet before her disappearance. So, if there was any inspiration going on it was Bismuth from Rose and not the other way. Since Pearl and Pink Diamond already had the sword made by Bismuth, it shows that Bismuth was indeed one of the first Crystal Gems, active with "Rose Quartz" for some time before RQ allegedly shattered PD.

Suddenly you think back on all the hints, like how steven has been getting shockingly strong and fast and manifesting all manner of weird powers that common gems just aren't made with. At the beginning of the series, Rose's fountain was known to heal gems with its tears, and suddenly steven brings a living creature back to life with his tears. and then Lars and Lion literally Bow Down to him. "You better hope your magical space goddess can bring people back from the dead"-Vidalia, and in the same episode we see a diamond around Steven's gem as a baby!! Pearl wanted to pull his gem out, but literally couldn't or everything would fall apart. Even the fact that Peridot has seen hundreds of Pearls and none as "Fancy" as our pearl, which "belonged to no one". Pearl was so upset when she found out about Lion, because Pearl had kept Rose's secret all this time only to find that she STILL didn't know the truth about everything.

I was a little late. However, I must say that they are one of my favorite episodes. A plot twist as big as that was very much expected. See how the answer was always with them, yet they couldn't get it. When gems are created, they maintain their purpose. And pearl was that... A pearl that obeyed orders from her diamond. See how this literally affects the group knowing that they had a false truth. I would like to explain about the plot plot, but we will see that later. I'm still excited about what's happening... My favorite episode to watch reactions to. The twist was something that was foreshadowed wonderfully IMO. It’s kinda funny that one of the biggest hints to this twist came from the Uncle Grandpa crossover episode of all places, but it was overlooked by a lot of people (Uncle Grandpa recommended that Steven gets his gem polished twice a year but, rose quartz gems don’t need to get polished. You know what kind of gemstone is recommended to be polished twice a year? Diamonds.)

Yes, the reveal caused a tsunami of comments pro and con. For myself, I realized that there had to be some deep connection between Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond (besides RQ being one of PD's legion), since Rose had far too many powers to be just a quartz warrior. A few posters proposed as far back as early season three...long before Pink Diamond was officially acknowledged by the show...that Rose and Pink were the same (along with other theories like Lion-is-Pink Diamond), and I dismissed this by wondering what possible advantage would a Diamond gain by reducing her power and assuming a false identity. This was before the reveal of Jungle Moon, when I had imagined Pink Diamond to be like her sisters: a towering figure inspiring fear and respect for millennia. If anything the Jungle Moon reveal of Pink Diamond made some like me even more certain that she and Rose Quartz were not the same, since the crown faceting of Pink's gemstone do not match up with those on Rose's/Steven's. The Crewniverse later insisted that this was a creative flub (a generic gem design carelessly inserted into Pink Diamond's), but I'm not so sure.. the Rose-is-Pink theory would have been almost impossible to deny after Jungle Moon had Pink's gemstone facets matched those on the top of Steven's. Lapis has made one too many panic flights for me to trust her in a crisis.
