I don't know if having dark streaks under her eyes would make her qualify as an off-color. We better wait to see if the Future episodes provide lore on the standards of what Spinels should be. So far the only reasons for being called off-color include fusions between different gems, defects in intended purpose, and deviation from normal gem production.

You ever realize that Spinel was just a thematic inversion of the crystal gems? Whilst the crystal gems were a social and later civil rebellion centered around those who were forced into roles they didn't want, to act like people they weren't, Spinel was the inverse. She was built with a single purpose, and that was to be a best friend to Pink (although in reality she was more of a toy than anything else), which when Pink abandoned her that was taken away. She *wants* dependence, she *needs* to fulfill her designated role. Her entire conflict essentially boils down to not being able to be what she was made to be.

I've been thinking the same thing! And if it works, he could go heal all the other planet's kindergartens too, even homeworld! The Diamonds likely won't be needing to make any new gems for a while due to not conquering planets anymore, but if they do ever need to make gems again the could just use the same kindergarten over and over again with Steven healing it between each use.

No, it is not possible. They attempted to bring life to the kindergarten. But it never did. Plants died. Look that episode and verify it yourself, you'd see. The problem in that episode was the soil, and the gem that looks like a plant, but mostly the soil and the environment. Conditions are required for a plant to grow, (character development) Steven universe brings light to reality, that there are things that cannot be changed, there are certain traits that we take for granted that we forget. And for that I begin to understand Spinels anger. Steven never tried to make friends with her, his goal was to solve the problem and get rid of her. I get it why she lashed out. Steven deserves those 2 punches.

(Yes, it's actually PD, but still it was _her_ decision to attack the earth and Steven :/) Steven rarely holds grudges, and it looks like Spinel is no exception, but this is a special case; all his friends are back to the way they started, his powers don't work right, and his energy is just being completely drained, of _course_ he's eager to get all this craziness over with! He cares about everyone and doesn't want anyone to get hurt, but at that point, he just wanted his life back! I'm sure he didn't mean to take advantage of her, that's just not Steven :'(

The one thing I absolutely love and can't get enough of when Spinel leaves with the Diamonds is just that I think that scene more than anything else shows the real changes they've made without realizing it. In the beginning, they are smothering Steven and it's because of all the baggage between them, Steven doesn't want to play the role they want him to so they mention everything they changed to make him happy. So whatever they've done doesn't quite come off sincere. So that actually helps show how much more genuine their reaction to Spinel is and how it's okay to be optimistic about how their relationships progress. At the end of Change Your Mind, when seeing the Off-Colors, they physically recoiled. Spinel was very obviously not in her original form with a turned gem all manifested from the pain she'd gone through. Spinel is even concerned about the Diamonds seeing her new form but when she comes out, they may not have remembered her by name, but they still recognized her. White covers her mouth and can't take her eyes off her, struck speechless. When Steven says that she was left in a garden by Pink, Blue's response is "you poor thing" sympathetic to her loneliness. Spinel playing it off in a joking goofy way gets the best most genuine laugh out of Yellow immediately by her flat out saying she likes Spinel which is honestly the cutest thing. And White falters for a moment, I'm kind of thinking she was gonna flat out ask Spinel if she'd like to join them. But yaknow, appearances of being in control kicks in and she catches herself, addressing Steven about taking Spinel back to Homeworld. But also the way Spinel and the Diamonds approach each other with the same feelings in befriending each other. They all miss Pink and really don't have anyone else they can relate to in terms of how they feel about losing her. They remind each other of Pink and they don't want to turn each other into her even if they need to remind themselves that none of them are supposed to be Pink. They all want the same thing and the way Found and Let Us Adore You come together as one song is beautiful and gets me tearing up a bit. But they see Spinel and they feel that affection for her almost immediately and the best thing is that she was still in her different form that reflected her pain and she's told she's still able to be loved and that even if it's hard to put herself out there again, it's worth it. So to me, especially contrasted with the beginning, this whole scene showed us how the Diamonds had really changed as people. That they weren't just going through the motions for Steven, they were becoming slowly more open minded without realizing it as well as being able to open themselves up to forming friendships with other gems. And this time around, they're more connected to others outside of their own little worlds of the garden or the palace, giving them somewhere and someone to turn to for help or an escape for a while. So yeah, sappy as it is, I think this is where you can begin to see the Diamonds' real road to redemption they're able to travel by themselves.

I have to say, I love the reprise of "let us adore you" it was so sweet and sincere. "Today, right here, right now, I'll love again. I finally found someone." It's all she ever really wanted, all she desired for 6000 years! She just wanted someone to love her, to care about her in some way shape or form. Spinel is like a dog (not in an insulting way, you'll see what I mean in a sec.), She wants to love someone, and be loved by that person. When she went back to her default state, what did she do? She tried to love Steven and help him. But she was pushed away again, she was betrayed again, just like with pink diamond. She's only able to truly start healing after people stopped stabbing her in the back. The diamonds showed her sincere love, not "you are a toy for my amusement" not "you are a tool to suit my needs", actual love.

@@LishNess1 Eeh, he kind of asked for it? I feel like writers made a serious mistake here, because Steven was out of character. He's been shown to be soooo compassionate to go as far as to redeem people who commited a genocide on an intergalactic scale. He's been shown to be ready to pay with his life for his mother's crimes. And yet there he was, denying emotional support to a person who got emotionally crushed by his mother, to the point that she lost mental stability and developed severe anxiety, fear of rejection, paranoia and god knows what other issues. And he was well aware of it. I love Spinel's character, but I get the feeling that the writes don't fully understand just how deep and complex they managed make her and that's why they gave her a crappy and unsatisfying resolution. Yay, now she get's to be a toy again, living with three people with the same mentality as and constantly reminding her of a person who put her through hell and back. Ain't it a hApPy eNDiNg, gUyZ?
