Johnny Carson did such a good job trying to make his guests comfortable.

I'm listening to Wright talk about his first appearance on Carson, on "WTF w/ Marc Maron" and he said he knew he'd done well from the audience's laughter, but still, was in total shock that Carson called him over to talk and could barely speak.

If Carson invited you over to sit down it was a sign that you did a good job. My favorite comedian of all time, Mitch Hedberg, was heavily inspired by Steven and it’s understandable as to why that is.

Let me say this… if I made potato chips, and I decided to pack them in a skinny can, people would say I was like Pringles. But what if I packed them in a bag?” This was Mitch’s quote. I guess take it for what you will.

Steven is shocked to be sitting with Johnny. He had no idea that would happen. There's a great documentary about the Boston comedy scene back then. Many good comics from there.

Has anyone come here after watching the special " The Comedy Store" on Showtime? 😎 Cool and is phenomenal! I was lucky to meet and talk to Sam Kinison, when he showed up here in Detroit. We went and seen his show and he ended up at the restaurant we were at. He gave me his signature on a napkin... it started when I went to send the waiter over to see what he was drinking, asked to buy him a drink?. He'd given up alcohol but he asked for me to come over anyways to his table... It was the best night of my life and I think of Sam Kinison often Unfortunately I gave napkin to a ex-boyfriends brother. I knew I should have hung on to it. This is one of the best documentaries I've seen in a really long time. It'll take you back through time! ⌛

when Carson says "there's not a lot of comedians that come out of Boston" I immediately thought, "in the 80's there was. There was Wright, Dennis Leary, Bobcat Goldwaith, and Paula Poundstone, and then a bunch of other's I would rank in the B class."
@ppumpkin32823 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but they didn't have national exposure back then. Since then a lot of comedians came out of Boston: Jay Leno, Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, Conan O'Brian, Luis C.K., etc. Not all made their name in Boston.
