Great vids my dude.. 10 things you forgot to mention to truly get 400hp. 1st, you will never get 400 hp on a stock KO4 Turbo. Max will be ~320hp with full bolt ons and aux fueling like meth or e85. And no , you don't run them both at the same time. 2nd you will need a tune after you start increasing flow, so after intake/internals or adding new Down-pipe or exhaust and so on. I recommend an etune like Purple Drank / Freaktune... ect ect.. 3rd , you need a FMIC. I recommend a Treadstone TR8 or better. A top mount will never net you 400 hp as it will always get heatsoak but a FMIC is 100% needed. Great work on mentioning a port and polished intake mani and don't forget to do the VTC delete while pnP the intake mani. 4th , step colder spark plugs at the correct gap of .26 ~ .28mm. I recommend the Denso's step colder plugs. 5th SWAS delete. The MS3 will cut fuel around 330hp as you start to get more power, you get more torque steer. The swas will cut fuel to the car to get a handle on steering. 6th, Bigger turbo. As mentioned you will not get over 330hp on a KO4 turbo. I recommend a BNR s4 or better as a BNR s4 will max out the stock block's safe capacity for power. Do note, even with a bigger turbo you will not reach 400hp unless you add aux fueling. I recommend e85 as its a whole lot safer then Meth injection. If you live where you can not get e85, then meth is a fantastic option. 7th, 3.5 bar map sensor harness and adapter.. To reach 400hp you will need boost higher then what the stock 3 bar can read. 8th, Electronic Boost Controler (EBC). This will replace the crappy stock one that can't handle over 20psi. I recommend the cobb ebc or similar. as they are all about the same quality and price. 9th, well this is sorta mentioned, but you do need a 3" Down-pipe and exhaust for maximum flow. The cheapest I would go is the CNT setup. It is great quality and give the the ports for the O2 sensors so you don't get CEL's. Skip ebay and amazon unless you want check engine lights that will make you fail inspection. 10! Not fully needed buy might as well do it.. ERG delete kit. With all these upgrades and the ones you mentioned you can sit at a comfortable 400hp. You will not get above 400 as you will then need 5th and 6th port injection as you are fully maxing out the air and fuel capabilities of your MS3/MS6 at 400hp . That is all for now.
@Reed_00246 жыл бұрын

My Mazda 3 not Speed is turbo tune but I am looking forward to upgrade bigger turbo. The issue I have is I need to upgrade my clutch because it is still stock transmission 5 speed manual and running strong with turbo kits.(Not am fan of hatchback on Speed3 but I like Speed6 not fan of headlight. So Mazda 3 looks perfect for me)

Actually since the car uses a MAF sensor the car comes with a "bypass valve" where it recirculates the air instead of VTA. Running a 100% "blowoff valve" will make your car run rich and just not ideal. What you really want is a Turbosmart Dual Port valve where you can do 100% either, or 50/50 where the blowoff sound is there but your car still runs like it should!
@bkphil896 жыл бұрын
Kaine Gunn mehh .. i know plenty of ppl who ran full vta and it their cars ran slightly rich.. a few extra pops but no worse for wear
@Luminary_Industries6 жыл бұрын
Kaine Gunn You can run full vta on these cars. Many believe you can't, but you can. I have the turbosmart dual port 100% vta. I always say. It's within the tune or tuner. Pops are fine and amazing.

Great vid Steve. I did up my Speed6 almost the exact same procedure. One of the best mods I did for free was to eliminate the clutch safety ignition switch. The DISI is notorious for blowing out the main bearings. Not dry clutching on every start extends their life big time. I even built it into a hidden kill switch. Don't tell anybody. Keep up the speed love. I know the STEVESPEED has come a long way since this vid.
@infadelakainf3 жыл бұрын
How do you eliminate that switch
@farmonious4203 жыл бұрын
@@infadelakainf I pulled it off the clutch pedal assembly, cut off the OEM switch, and extended the wires to a toggle switch I mounted under the dash. There's only 2 wires so it ws easy, not alot of electrical knowledge required. Or you can just pull the switch off the clutch pedal assembly, and wire them together, for a permanent "ON'. Good luck. Enjoy your Speed. Stay Happy and Healthy

Biggest thing you forgot is FUEL FUEL FUEL..... thats the biggest issue when it comes to making power with the speeds.... meth is probably the cheapest way.. but a 5th and 6th port(or if you want to spend money a port injectiin kit) along with at least a bnrs3 and the car should break 400..
@jadenteague34136 жыл бұрын
First thing to get is a high pressure fuel pump. No if, ands or buts about it.
@numinous47896 жыл бұрын
Second is auxiliary fueling, whether WMI or PI, because even with HPFP internals, the injectors themselves become bottlenecks at 370-380whp on a very well-flowing setup (which also necessitates at least a 3" or higher intake, upgraded intercooler system - the stocker is another major bottleneck - and a full 3" DP/exhaust if you expect these numbers on mid-sized turbos. Larger turbos can push through some of these limits, at the cost of efficiency and longevity. Third is a turbo capable of moving enough air. You'll need at least a BNR S3 or a CS turbo. Any Garret GT2871 or above with work. A PTE5558 will have no trouble either.

Accessport V2/V3, test pipe or downpipe, intake and inlet, hpfp internals, E85 tune, done. At that point a aftermarket BPV and some motor mounts would be a good add on as well, at the very least the rear to start, also an tmic upgrade is about all you need unless you wanna go big turbo otherwise the spool up penalty of a front mount isn't worth it. I run a stock sized intake and inlet and make well over the 300 mark easy, you may get a 10 hp benefit out of a 3 inch intake but the 3.5 is just beyond the efficiency of the K04. An accessport is a great first mod along with the rear motor mount, then go from there.

What would you say all this would cost? I’m about to purchase my first car and I think a Mazda 3 would be my best option due to cost and reliability. Also an affordable aftermarket. Was also eyeballing used Lexus IS350s but they seem to lack a massive aftermarket support.
@StevenDevey5 жыл бұрын
KidsOnALeash OnABoat the Lexus IS is a great car but it would be hard to make lots of power on a budget. The Mazda 3 is a good choice but you won’t want to mod it at all. If you want a platform for power and reliability you have to get the mazdaspeed model.
@TheJMan1K5 жыл бұрын
Steven Devey I’m blessed to have family that can cover a decent amount. While I wish to stay as low cost as possible a used Lexus with low miles can had for around 12-15K which isn’t to bad lol. Im thinking a decent tune up and upgraded bolt ons could bump the horses. Another car I was considering was a classic SC400/300. Appreciate the recommendation of the Mazdaspeed. Will look into that.

test pipe and muffler delete and it will sound like an old rally car, or at least upgrade the stock muffler to an aftermarket. TP is maybe 80 bucks and a muffler swap at a local shop is maybe 125 to 200 for a decent muffler, and it will be smaller, lighter, and sound better than the stocker.

So what do we know about e85 on these cars? I see a lot of stuff about e85 mixes but not 100% e85. If I put in a HPFP, bigger fuel rails, injectors and lines can I run 100% e85 without worry? With a tune of course
@StevenDevey6 жыл бұрын
So I’m not 100 percent sure but I think you would be able to run full e85 but I think if you aren’t driving the car very often if the e85 sits than it eat through some stuff, I think that’s why most people like to run 50/50.

You can run 100%e85.. but youre going to be cleaning black gunk from your hpfp quite often....also with direct injection its not like you can upgrade the injectors anyway.. the juice isnt worth the squeeze to run 100%e85 in anything less than a dedicated race car... the detergents in the 93 helps keep the hpfp clean

From what I’ve seen from Stratified tuning a Speed6 with every bolt on keeping the stock turbo and no meth injection will make around 300 whp at sea level. Add meth and you can get probably 315 whp at sea level but that’s the absolute limit on the k04. Full-Race and BNR both make great turbo kits that can achieve 400 whp. I personally like Full-Race’s kit the most from what I’ve read, it’s purely my opinion though, Full-Race costs more then BNR I believe, and BNR has served many well.

matthew smith with the big turbo and E85 I was estimating 400 wheel hp.
@dashowdy6 жыл бұрын
Yeah with a BNR S3 or higher or GT series equivalent, its a question of how long the block will withstand it dependent on driver also. They put down good numbers but the amount of mods and money needed for that extra 70 wheel horsepower or less over a k04 bolt ons E85 car may or may not be worth it for some dependent on mileage and if you have funds set aside or not to rebuild a motor just in case. When my stock turbo gets replaced at 115,000 later this year I am getting either the billet wheel upgraded K04 or a BNR S1. I like the response down low and big turbos won't replicate that for the around town driving I do.
