@@sikbaggers I ran mine behind the backing plate on top of the manifold up across the top of the front head with the wiring that's there then down behind the front frame rail and mounted the can at the top of the oil cooler to the frame rail. Turned out real clean. Also I didn't want the oil too travel strait down and all collect in the can. I figured running it up first then down would allow any excess oil to run back into the heads. (Fingers crossed). Seems to be working. Hope your plan works as it would be a great alternative. Thanks for the reply.

Steve can you let me know how this intake works with factory floorboards in regards to comfort with leg on that side. I have a stage 2 M8 Fatboy and looking at getting this filter intake away. Mike
@sikbaggers Жыл бұрын
It does stick out a tad farther than the oem breather but I have not had any issues with it on my leg. I would also suggest with the M8 to ick up thier external breather kit as well. It will keep any blow by from getting on the acrylic cover making it oily and nasty looking.

I have an M8 ('17 King) and seen how much oil blow-by build up there was inside the throttle body at Just 8,000 miles. I've installed a Feuling vented dipstick and now at 10k miles that blow-by has not yet reared its ugly head. Thought about getting a Trask vented transmission cover but at $350 I'll hold off to see how well the Feuling does.
@sikbaggers3 жыл бұрын

@@sikbaggers Believe it or not I got I on Amazon for the typical mind boggling price of $279 but I suppose it's cheaper than fowled piston heads. The only thing I didn't like I'd there's a super tiny set screw that allows you to clock the direction of the cap with the Feuling logo in the direction you want. I have a good assortment of Allen wrenches, just not that small. It's almost the size of the screw that holds the arms of your glasses together. How will it do with my 2019 RGS? I have Rinehart headers with Rinehart 4.5" racing slip ons. I've tried tuning this with my V&H FP-3 tuner and used the deceleration feature set for 1 and I still am seeing some incomplete burn causing loud back fires coming out of the pipes. I currently have a K&N filter for the stage 1 but I'm thinking I need more air flow to help with the issue. In your expertise opinion, do you think that this would help with the Trask Assault Air Cleaner Steve?
@sikbaggers3 жыл бұрын
The K&N filter is a great foilter..however what air cleaner do you have it in? The filter is just a filter...but the air cleaner you have now may be restricting the air flow..also adding Lower fairings with a HD heavy breather( the kind that turns out towards the front like a cone) will restrict it too, not a lot but maybe noticeable. Let me know what you got.
@markodaat3 жыл бұрын
@@sikbaggers I have just the stock air cleaner on the bike at the moment. I just put on some soft lowers yesterday for my winter riding up here in the rainy NW. I'm shopping around to get a new air cleaner and it would be impractical with the weather around here to by a cone. I have a couple of friends that use them and even with the sock aren't happy. Trask makes a really nice product, but the cost? whew. I'm needing to get something that will produce more air for a cross country trip I'm taking in May.
@sikbaggers3 жыл бұрын
@@markodaat In order to have a true stage 1 you will need to open up the breather. In your case I would recommend something like the stealth air cleaner from S&S. www.easternperformance.com/ss-stealth-stage-1-air-cleaner-kit-for-stock-cover-for-2017-harley-m8-touring.html You keep the same breather cover you have now but the back is wide open so you get way more air. This style breather will also allow you to block rain. Any other aftermarket open style breather is not going to be great in the rain. The arlen ness ones I run on the SG and RG do pretty good with no rain sock at all and I've been caught in some good rain. But the price is up there with this one too. You will need to retune your bike. Im not sure what tune you used on the bike with a stock air cleaner but I'm going to bet its not right. You really only need to tune when you open up the entire system, air cleaner, headers, and whatever slip on of your choice. Then tune the bike for a stage 1. High flow intake, high flow exhaust. I going to bet your problems clear right up.

@sikbaggers2 жыл бұрын
ahh man...why does it suck?
@franksumser9985 Жыл бұрын
What sucks is. Its so clean now. But in a couple weeks its gonna be covered in oil because of no external breather
@sikbaggers Жыл бұрын
I understand your concern about the potential oil buildup on the breather due to the lack of an external breather. That can be frustrating, especially after you've just cleaned your bike. However, there are a few things you can do to mitigate this issue. One option is to install Trasks external crankcase breather system. Another way to reduce this is to run your oil slightly lower than half way on your dipstick. This was installed on a 103 and the blow by is not nearly as bad as the M8 engines. It is also important to perform regular maintenance and clean your bike more frequently to prevent excessive buildup. I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!

I wonder why the manufacturer did not design it like that, so the manufacturer designed something bad? Does it make your engine explode after riding? Will it do something to my life and bike that I need a lawyer because I don't have the breather kit. I should sue Harley then for selling me a bad design engine. Wait, I haven't heard anyone trying to sue Harley because of a bad design or needing a breather kit. Even Harley doesn't even have that available as an option.
