Buckle up!! you are in for the weirdest ride of your life!! She has her first debut album titled "Crybaby", where you will get to know about the character crybaby, that is simply Melanie Martinez but intensified and rawer, and then her second album "K-12" which has a movie written and directed by Melanie, it includes all the songs from the album k-12 and has a storyline with so much meaning and depth, and there is an EP after k-12 titled "Afterschool" which is less in the perspective of crybaby and more of the pov of Melanie, hence why is the lyrics in that ep are more complex and intricate. you can start from crybaby to have a better understanding of k-12 the movie, but it is alright if you start with k-12. it is called "K-12" because its from kindergarten to year 12, its a very cool way to tie school issues with social issues.

React to the albums in order since they're conceptual visual albums and follow a cohesive storyline based on the character melanie has created named "CryBaby" which is like a fairytale, dark and more exaggerated version of mel herself! React to "Cry Baby" first as it's the debut album and an introduction to CryBaby's world followed up by the Sophomore album "K-12". Both albums are visual albums CryBaby has MVs for all songs which you should react to in a chronological order, in order to understand the story and connect with it. K-12 is a visual album too and instead of MVs it's accompanied by a feature length film which melanie wrote, directed, designed and stars in herself.

This made me so freaking happy, thank you! :) One of my absolute favorite songs, bridges and music videos by Melanie. I love how this shows how amazing dancer she is as well. If you are going to react to more songs by her, I recommend you to start with "Crybaby"-album. But if and/or when you have finished it, I think you would like especially "Show and Tell" from her second album "K-12".

React to the “Dollhouse” EP first (this came out in 2014) then “Cry Baby” (2015) then “K-12” (2019) and “After School” EP (2020) just so you can make an indication of their growth as a musician. Although I really want you to discover Cry Baby first but Dollhouse EP was like the same theme of that album but different. Dollhouse EP is kind of a reminiscent more to Lana while Cry Baby really engraved her brand as Melanie Martinez. Lana, Marina, and Melanie are like the OG alt pop idols around 2015-2016. I’m excited for this journey to happen!!!! 😩💗 also, I don’t want to make a comparison for this but before Billie incorporated and popularize the “horror” and “dark” imagery she did it with “Cry Baby” mostly with her music videos that she also directed and wrote but it’s far different from Billie though. Let’s just say it’s more pastelized… if that’s a word hahaha but yea, it’s a horror pastel-colored concept. Kind of like tim burton-y.

Ohh yess! I am so happy that you will be checking Melanie's music. She has 2 albums. Cry Baby and K-12. She also released an EP after K-12. What I also love about her music is especially in K-12, each song focuses on different issues and brightens them up in a sarcastic way as well. You will find songs from bulimia to authority and sexism that young girls go through, even how the music industry can lie to you and make you overwork for money or how harsh can paparazzi and fans be sometimes to celebrities. So I believe it brings awareness too. And the album Cry Baby includes lots of great songs. Sure you'll love it. Looking forward to your reaction to Melanie!

You are absolutely NOT allowed to listen to K-12 WITHOUT listening to her first album, Crybaby, as she personifies a character called Crybaby, who then grows up a bit to go to school (K-12), then followed by After School EP. you especially cannot watch the K-12 movie without listening and watching ALL the videos from Crybaby in order of tracklist. You won’t be as rewarded if you jump straight into K-12 without your proper background of her and her character. After completing Crybaby, you will be allowed to listen to and watch the movie for K-12.
