One of the things I like about Steve's videos is how real he is when going through the troubleshooting process. For example he did not cut out the part about closing the hot supply and then testing the mixing valve and the temporary wrong conclusion. Plus he stays cool and calm as he works through the issues.

Thanks so much for the tip on installing a compression shutoff valve. It installed two under my bathroom sink today, and using the pipe dope worked like a charm!

at 6:45 when you are disconnecting the HOT supply, could you have run that line into a bucket to compare the flow to that of the cold side? Could that have been a way to determine if the problem was the supply or if problem was in the hot side of faucet?

15:39 - The mixing/tempering valve! I have a similar issue in my apartment. The hot/cold in the kitchen runs with good pressure, but in the bathroom, the hot water pressure is about 50% less that it was when I moved in. I wonder if my Landlord installed a "mixing valve" in the basement on my water heater? There is also a leak from the bathtub spout - the water leaking out is hot. Steven: Any ideas what might be causing the hot water leak in the bathtub spot, along with the low flow pressure in bathtub/shower spout and bath sink hot water spout?

Mine was blocked on the hot side. First, make sure you have buckets below. I disconnected the supply line to the hot, but my hand over the outflow of the faucet and turned on the cold. It blew all the crab from the hot side of the faucet out and it now flow fine.

I've seen the washer in those stops get brittle on the hot side and crumble. Particles of washer then clog the supply line and the faucet cartridge. Another funny comment with that lady saying her husband has a phobia of running out of toilet paper. I think most of us have a phobia of that. Especially in a strange place!

Zenmaister11 S if you watched his videos over time, the well water they deal with clogs faucet cartridges daily.

Mookie Man I understand that, my point from an efficient approach is why not tackle the less evasive areas. When you start at the supply, it gives you direction which way to go about finding the restriction.

I was thinking the same thing at 6:36. I was saying to the screen, open the valve and test flow. But everyone has their steps and in time skip the least likely items even if they are simple. Great video steve.

Zenmaister11 S My mom has this same problem I replaced the faucet and lines Hot water is fine throughout the rest of the house. I think it maybe her elbow thats on that hot water supply, i might just have to replace it with a shut off valve

Ok so only thing that's got me lost is he had low pressure in two sinks at first. Then after turning the heater water off and on again he only had the one sink having trouble. So what changed about the kitchen faucet that it started having pressure again.
@bradstevenson17508 жыл бұрын
did you do a video at this house doing a pressure reducer valve looks familar
@chuckscott93608 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven. Like your videos. One thing I've done is used the cold water to backflush the faucet and the water supply line. That would help me figure out if it was the faucet, supply line or the water pipe coming up to it. Then like you did check water flow from the shut off. I would try a new supply line when I do that. With the kitchen sink losing pressure I'm thinking its the mixing valve. Can't want to see what it is.

i'd delete that mixing valve, even if it worked. i hate them. to me, they serve no purpose. water's too hot? mix in some cold water yourself! and teach your kids how to work a faucet so they don't get scalded! i usually see the ones that attach to the supply lines underneath sinks. good video Steve.

My house is only 3 years old and I've replaced all the bathroom tub faucet cartridge at least 4 times. It's getting quite expensive and nobody has been able to figure out what is causing the issue. Some thinks it's the water softener, some think it's a faulty faucet, some think its the water heater.. idk... :( Problem: Either scalding water or cold and sometimes they work fine. Single handle faucet made by moen.
@FloridaHustle2392 жыл бұрын
Valve maybe bad,those Moen shower valves have a white anti scolding breaker cap
That's a tuffy. It can't be the mixing valve. The rest of the house works. Unless that mixing valve only feeds that bathroom. It has to be before the tub and the sink.

She told me she could sleep better knowing that she had food in case of an emergency. Hurricane Hugo comes through, knocking out the power utilities for weeks.
