Fun Fact; Namibia has the best road network in Africa
@ChristyKrohne2 жыл бұрын
I wish that was the case. After the rainy season, I had to replace a 3-month-old continental tire with a brand new one. The potholes are everywhere.
@Mntungwa772 жыл бұрын
@@ChristyKrohne …it is still one of the best road network; I visited one African country, also in Southern Africa(not saying names, and it’s not Zimbabwe, and not SA either) and I was shocked to find potholes in the parking lot, how fast can cars be driving to make potholes on a tarred road in a parking lot, in fact it was parking bays; ones with metal shade so there isn’t direct rainfall on this surface…goes to show there is no maintenance. I’m from Mahikeng in the North West Province of South Africa, also known as The Pothole Capital of the World, in fact of the Entire Universe because if there are roads on mars, I can bet my last dime that they’re definitely better than roads in Mahikeng!!! Once a beautiful city, this town was the legacy of former leader of a bantusan that was called Bophuthatswana and his name was, Mr Lucas Mangope. He handed over this city like many others and infrastructure in general in impeccable shape. It is now painful to look at, a real sore sight!!! It is shocking to even imagine that this could be the capital city of a province that produces the second largest if not the largest amount of platinum in the world. Even in the worst governed countries of the world, capital cities are usually taken care of because naturally, we clean up where we live first before anywhere else!!! But we know that the only thing these guys know how to clean up is state coffers!!! If you lived around the days of Mangope you will know what I mean!!! And this is NOT me crying for the days of bantustans and apartheid, it’s just facts!!!! There is a bush growing right where the premier of the province, the most senior government official, and his MECs park their vehicles. Tall tall grass! It’s shocking! They drive up and down these shockingly massive potholes everyday, and go park in this area with ugly grass and weed growing everywhere, yet no one thinks it should be maintained….and cleaned up? The potholes are so deep one can swim there after some good rains!!! And one day they will get chased around by snakes and rats from that bush and I hope it will be very soon; or could it be that they’re converting the place into an animal park of some sort cos I promise you one day the premier will find a giraffe on his parking spot!!! So, my advice to anyone out there is, do not drive your favorite car to Mahikeng, rather ride a donkey and safe your car!

Too often we Africans confuse developed infrastructure with a higher quality of life. And while that may be true to some extent, majority of Namibians are poor and languishing in poverty, mostly the black Africans. All these fancy neighborhoods are mostly occupied by white Germans and a few colored people. Don’t be fooled, Namibia is still an extension of Germany when it comes down to who holds most of the economic power in the country.

Beauty here is really well appreciated. No one hawking or patching tire by the road side or selling bole or refuse sites. Just pure high quality development. Even the cities look better developed and neater here. I'm not saying that there's absolutely no nice real estate in West Africa. But it's just not comparable to what we are seeing so far in southern Africa. Angola, Kenya and Tanzania also seem to have some nice real estates. Northern Africa has Egypt and Morocco. And I believe Algeria and Tunisia also look great.

@nelsonsibiya92042 жыл бұрын
@@StevenNdukwu I bet you haven't been to South Africa yet, well Since you are coming here next to review and explore our properties, you'll understand what Iam talking about. The architecture and town planning is very simillar. Namibia and other Southern African countries use South Africa as a benchmark, when it comes to architecture, infrastructure, recreational facilities and other amenities....so, it's all very Similar. Namibia is also culturally linked to South Africa by history, as Namibia was part of South Africa, so, the same political and socio economic situation in South Africa mirrors that of Namibia.
@eberhard19912 жыл бұрын
@@nelsonsibiya9204 Namibia doesn't use SA as a benchmark for architecture. The only town that resemble South Africa is Walvis Bay and towns in the north, the rest have German architecture.
@nelsonsibiya92042 жыл бұрын
@@eberhard1991 I understand that Namibia is heavily influenced by German architecture, particularly the old german style colonial buildings, however the modern Architecture as showcased by the video, has heavy influence of something that you could find in Cape Town, Durban or PE. Iam not frying to belittle Namibia nor limit it's capabilities, however, Iam just trying to point out, that South Africa as the regional hegemon, plays a significant role in the shaping of the region, whether it be political, cultural, architectural or economic.

Namibia is honestly stunning. Southern Africa is definitely most developed part of Africa along with North Africa. You literally see the paved and organised roads, working civic services and systems and proper nice housing when you are in their cities in most of Southern Africa

How is it white dominated if Majority are black Namibians.white population is about 6%.Lets learn to be truthful and happy for others when they get compliments.Whether Namibia or Southern Africa was built by colonisers still doesn't take away the fact that they have beautiful countries and that they are organized and well managed by their "black governments" Theres no African country that wasn't built by their colonisers..Some are the most educated in Africa today because of all those scholarships and humanitarian assistance from the same "coloniser "..some are crossing oceans and jumping risky borders just to be In the coloniser's backyard for better life opportunities...so why is Southern Africa always crucified and told the development they have is all "thanks"to their colonizer..But "Brothers and Sisters"are doing the most to be in America or Europe..Most people from Southern Africa are not desperate to be in America or Europe.. because they are happy at home and they hardly go to other countries..and when they do they always come back home after studies or vacation.
