A couple of years ago, before ChapGPT, I was having a verbal conversation with someone who was in the room with me. Nothing was ever typed in anywhere. Next time I went online, the item we were speaking of was coming up in advertisements all over my internet. They HEAR you talking.

I think that even though you are not logging in/signing in chatgpt can still tell the conversations it has had with your IP address/specific device history - you actually give it a lot of permisions to "look" at things when you use it. ( are you logged into youtube with the stevensteph account ??? as its about info on that page describes alot about you two , plus it can "read" the video titles and see all the video titles and make some good guess's )

I do searches on my phone without signing in or letting it use my location - the first thing that pops up is all the stores that I see from where I am at (before I start typing anything in). My sister and her kids were talking about getting a boat - they were outside and my sister had her phone in her pocket. After the kids left my sister got on the computer inside - Ads about boats kept popping up.

I was once told that our devices actually listen in on our conversations, unless you turn off the microphones. Not sure if I believe it, but you never know.

My husband and I discovered some time ago that our iPhone eavesdrops on us. We've had friends over and chit chat about this, that, and the other. They'll go home and get on their pc and yes, the topics we discussed come up. There's no way to keep our phones from listening to our private conversations, other than putting it in a Faraday bag and keep it in a separate room. That's why my husband will not buy a smart TV because it has a built in capability to eavesdrop to everything we say. And who else can listen? That's what I want to know.

I unplugged my ALEXA because it was creeping me out. Now I can be talking to my cat, and my phone will say, "I didn't understand that" which creeps me out, too. I usually tell my phone to shut up! Whenever I talk about my diabetes to someone, then I get all kinds of ads for diabetes products.

All this technology is scary to me. I resisted joining Facebook for a long time. Finally I was talked into it, and I signed up. That's all I did. By the next morning I was getting suggestions from Facebook about friends and family. Some of the suggestions were of people I knew in my early childhood and haven't been in contact with for decades. That's to much. I canceled my account immediately. I know we're being tracked at all times and I don't like it.

I talk to my cats, I probably sound like a nut calling them baby sometimes. I live alone guess it's better to talk to my 2 cats than to myself. I usually only talk to myself if I do something dumb or hurt myself, I will curse out loud if I hurt myself or say "That wasn't good" if I just narrowly avoided a catastrophe, that's about it. If my phone only spied on my audible comments at home it would think I was a mom with 2 crazy kids, lol. I know it spies on my phone calls. I will have ads pushed to me about items my sister and I just discussed on the phone, that used to freak me out but no longer does. I'm used to it.
