Thanks Steve you're a legend for taking time to make this video. Went to start Mack to get out of shed to put sheep in for shearing and yeah air just going straight through. Thought it might be stuck solinoid but looks like the vanes are the problem. Gonna try taking the big hose off top first and tip some diesel down b4 I try and take starter off.

@@stevesplacedownunder It ended up being that big relay on the air tank. It gets a pulse of air from that other one under passenger door you can push with a pen/screwdriver. When pressure drops spring closes it up again. Didn't dare attempt to remove it as it had a gal fitting steel on steel to tank which was only option as no room to turn anything. Just sprayed a shitload of CRC down the main opening and where the air line goes in, pushed on valve it a bit with screw driver through hole but I didn't know what it was made of so not too much! It was still worth taking the starter off just to check condition and give a good clean. Years ago there was some "cheap" biodiesel getting around supposedly "certified". A lot got caught with it and many injector pumps got destroyed, mostly newer types. All the old gear seemed to handle OK but even after cleaning fuel systems it leaves this horrible residue everywhere you still find traces of.

@@stevesplacedownunderYes, had to replace the fuel lines on the Mack and cleaned about an inch of sludge off bottom both fuel tanks. Probably used what I saved in diesel on the diesel I used to clean up the mess caused by the biodiesel. The irony isn't lost. Hey well done with the channel, great to see someone else not give a shit about polished editing! 😂 Love the dry sence of humour haha. You can mate. It’s time to do all the grass around them that’s obviously what this video was about, moving stuff so I could cut the grass. They all used to look good lined up in the short neat grass. Such a big job. I only really do around the house. I can’t keep up with the rest. I parked an old transtar down there yesterday and mowed it first and she looks nice and tidy sitting there. @stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder Жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. Thanks for subscribing and watching. I got left a few old farm tractors when I was really young off my grandfather and being around them at the same time the interest grew. Then going to auctions and word of mouth and people knowing I like them putting me onto it or giving me stuff. I’m only on wages mate so haven’t got a lot of money so didn’t pay too much for any of it really. The good stuff I’ve slowly done up as I could afford to, like the trucks I use. I also will do mechanical jobs for people in exchange for an old piece of equipment they may want to get rid of. There’s ways of doing it without costing a bunch

They are supposed to hold air in that start tank. I guess initially they have to be charged. But once they are going they can hold it for months on end. I have seen blokes carry a hose for an emergency that can drain the tyres into it for starting or carry a glad hand fitting around so another truck can charge them off a trailer line or Suzi coil. Similar to a flat battery and needing a jump I guess
