Morning Bill, thank you for that. Sometimes these videos are not the easiest to do, braving the rust, sun, wind, rain , wildlife, travelling ect. It can at times also be difficult to line up filming with the cameraman as he is a lot busier than me. If I could make more videos, I would but there are a few constraints so I really do them as and when I can. Bruce

As I've said before, Bruce you are a heck of a mechanic and engineer with boundless insights. I can't thank you enough for showing a similar trick to the valves, i.e. unsticking Detroit injectors. Brilliant effort anyway, the engine ran briefly and rough. The resistance of the glowing screwdriver would have dropped a few of the 24 Volts to the overheated starter. Great video Bruce. I enjoyed every minute of it. Those bent pushers were probably caused by stuck valves.

🤣🤣🤣 the old burly Bedfords, Austins & BMCs great fun to drive. At various times back in the 60s & 70s ( as kids) we used to use them to take harvest grain to the silos. The old Austins were crash boxes, but a joy to drive. It was this experience where I learned that a clutch was only used for starting roll, after that rev matching. Later got my Army HV license and I freaked the instructor out when we jumped in an old crash box Stud and never crunched the gears, they were still in service (sort of) back then being petrol fuelled, alternate fuelling just in case and had to driven every 12 months. Thanks for posting Bruce, great stuff 👋👋👋

Great video, you gave it a good shot! I've often been tempted to go 24V on the stubborn stuff, but I think the trick would be to energise the coil of the solinoid at 12V and give the starter 24. I feel your pain, I had to go to the extreme of doing a rough rebuild on one engine on my channel (Case 1394 full of water) just to get it to run for a will it start 😂

Dogged determination and still it fought back. I'd say technically it did run. I used the tap the rockers method to improve the compression on my mate's Zephyr. It did the trick and we got it running. It was an original idea to me and this is the first time I've heard anyone else mention it. I showed it in a video. Thanks for posting Bruce.
