There is a difference between ultimatum's and setting boundaries. Although setting a boundary may resemble an ultimatum, the intention and energy around it are different. Ultiimatum's tend to demand someone do something or change, boundaries give the person information around what your preferences, limits and deal breakers are and then releases them to make decisions regarding whether you are in alignment with one another or if they are able to honour your boundaries in order to make it work. The woman said that she got mixed messages. Often when women are in this situation the guys are saying one thing but their behaviour is saying another. It's confusing and I think that was clear from what she was saying. I'm in a very similar situation right now. The guy says he wants me but has done nothing to forward the relationship. We have never been intimate with each other. He has had a number of serious issues come up. I don't know if they're excuses or if I should keep waiting for him to sort himself out. And if I choose to wait I have no idea how long that will be as he has not told me how long it will take.

First off... She needs to step back from her friends. More than likely, they see the potential and want to bust things up so they can get on your man. Secondly, if he is not a fit, he just isn’t a fit. Find somebody more ready for what you want or be patient with him and see if he just needs time. Or you could use this time to get yourself together too cuz if he is your dude and he is bettering himself, you should be doing the same.

I agree with you 100%. I was against marriage since I was about 8 years of age, when I looked at the marriages of the members of both my mother's, and, father's families. I wanted children, and, in my mother's, and, father's mother's families, one married before bearing them. At 22, I was diagnosed with a spinal condition which made me decide not to do so, therefore, I didn't need to marry. I'm 72 years of age, and, have never regretted my decisions.

I was in a similar situation where I was talking to a 34 yo (I'm 25) and it had been 7 weeks of us doing this "playing house" thing where he would do boyfriend stuff and tell me he wants to be with me, but when I brought up him actually verbalizing that I'm his girlfriend, he wouldn't do it. Had all these rules about the amount of dates we needed to go on and etc. He then lost his job and made that the NRXT excuse why he wouldn't verbalize it...and I thought....I'm young, sacrificing parts of myself to make space for him and he couldn't even say "girlfriend" to make me feel secure... but could sleep with me... I was like I shouldn't have to beg somebody so I left.

The next thing, he marries her, can't finish college, they have 1 or 2 kids and are facing Judge Lynn Toler all because she wouldn't let the guy get his acts together and ready for settling down. I believe in ultimatums.. I just wouldn't tell the guy about it, id keep it to myself and if he doesn't improve within the time frame I've given him then I'm happy to move on. It seems like the guy is giving her mixed messages and that is a message in itself. He moved back to the town over a YEAR ago which means he's had plenty of time to push things forward and he hasn't!
