RU kidding? Who could possibly do something like this again? I dont think there will ever be another Stevie Ray. The mold was shattered when he started shredding. Passion from the heart and soul just poured, bled and sweat thru him like nothing I've ever seen before or since. i believe he was born for this purpose and could not have been anything else. I discovered music when I discovered SRV, because before him, my ears never brought my heart such joy thru music. Even after more than 30 years, that loss still has me weeping, especially during something this beautiful. No words needed when his guitar speaks, cries or screams, because I think that's what Stevie was doing inside. It was his him coming thru. Did it begin early in his life that his playing said what he could not ? That must be what "artist" means. Stevie Ray was a natural. We who love him, do so not just for the musical legacy he left behind, but for the person we discovered him to be because of those who told us thru testimonial. RIP and in music, Stevie. 💙 ☮️to all.

This was Stevie Ray Vaughn's tribute to Jimi Hendrix as "Little Wing" was originally Jimi's song which wasn't an instrumental but had some great lyrics to it. You might want to visit the original to get a frame of reference. Kudos on the reaction.

Everybody has that one moment that they will remember forever. Mine was the day that I met SRV. He was just beginning his rise in 1989. My dad took me to the Denton Jazz Festival in Denton, Texas. He told me "son, this is the greatest guitarist ever, pay attention". Little did I know that my ole' man knew SRV personally. I just wished I was old enough to truly know how important that moment was for me.

I was in a little bar in Kansas City, I think it was the Lonestar, in '89-'90 watching Lonnie Brooks play. I was at the bar right by where Lonnie would get his between set refreshments and we got to talking about how the blues scene was changing and about life in general. It was late and I had class the next morning and I was about to leave after Lonnie played his 2nd to last set and I thanked him for his show, but he stopped me from leaving and told me to hold on for a surprise.. About 10 min. later SRV walked into the club and they played the last set together. It was absolutely amazing. I doubt there were 75 people in the bar that night, but we sure got a treat. RIP Lonnie and SRV.

My wife’s uncle followed him to many shows and was at the last show he ever played. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to see him live in concert. There are many good or even great guitarists but Stevie Ray Vaughn is among a very small elite group of guitar legends. To put his name next to Jimi Hendrix is saying a lot. Both are legends and will never be topped.

I grew up with Jimi Hendrix and all the great music of the 60's, 70s and 80s. I'm amazed more people don't appreciate the talent and sound that Hendrix produced and SRV carried on in his own way. Music is Spiritual. When you hear the blues/rock like this, it's a full spiritual experience. Today's so called music isn't music; it's fake noise. When you hear STV in this video, you can not just sit there and not feel a thing. You feel emotion, you feel soul. It takes you higher....just like Sly said years ago. Watching this dude "feel" the soul of what STV is putting down is both and hoot and probably a mirror of what the rest of us look like. Rock on Modern Renaissance Man!!

@@onelove101unity I understand where you're coming from, but I respectfully disagree. Joe, and many others, are uber-talented, but they don't have the raw, unadulterated soul and emotion that Stevie had. Stevie was a gift from the Heavens, and is peerless from the standpoint of playing from his soul. You can really hear it in his live performances, but Stevie would yell when he ripped into a solo or a hard-core lick. One song in particular that exemplifies this, is The Sky Is Crying from the October 1984 Carnagie Hall concert. Stevie's raw emotion can be heard when he yells while playing. It was simply a vocal release of all the emotion built up inside of him. Thanks for your reaponse/input! Blessings!

SRV El Mocambo is THE best live music performance ever caught on video, period. Stevie slams the gas pedal to the floor from the jump and unloads his brand with surgeon like precision. Incredible considering how out of his mind on alcohol and cocaine he was at this point in his life, before it got even more crazy and he had to get help. So glad we got those sober years at the end, he dedicated so much of it to helping others not make the same mistakes he did.

SRV had a mastery and control of his instrument that made it an extension of himself like none I'd seen or heard in my long life in music. He never played anything exactly the same twice but improvised on a basic tune, chord progressio and theme. It was almost like his mind thought and the guitar played the thoughts. A true genius and metaphysical master of his instrument like none other. Glad you discovered SRV. Other greats were and are in awe of SRV, may he rest in peace.

It’s either in there, or it’s not. I’d love to see you react to more SRV, like Texas Floods. I have a great suggestion for someone to check out. Eric Gales. He is AMAZING! A blues, rock guitarist, he sings, plays and FEELS the blues with so much soul. He’s got a ton of videos on KZbin but I’m going to put one below that is not his best but my personal favorite. He’s playing a set at a blues festival and spots a legendary blues singer in his audience, Beth Hart, and calls her up on stage to sing with him. They just kind of improv the whole thing and it just shows how amazing they are at their crafts and shows how much joy it brings them to play and sing the music. I like your channel! Keep it up! I’ll have plenty more suggestions for music for you to check out! LOL! Eric Gales & Beth Hart - Catfish Blues (07.02.2017, Norwegian Jade) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2qwpGSVfKyerNU

Most were hyper crazy costumes and Hair all in the right place but he looked like he just got back from wild party and picked up a guitar off the road on the way to blowing everyone's mind back then. Including me. I thought of it as the second coming of Jimi Hendrix. They played all his records that day he died only on the Rock Radio channel in Birmingham Alabama. The announcer was a Female true Rocker and she held back her tears the whole day.

the guy gave me chicken skin every time I saw him. fortunately got to see him with Jeff Beck in the 90s. mind blowing show. encore third stone from the sun, machine gun, voodoo, and going down with both on stage for all of em.🤯 needless to say greatest show I've ever been to.

They say that blues music is the easiest to learn but hardest to feel. SRV would feel the music and let it take him where it wanted to go. This is the third version of Little Wing I heard SRV feel; they were all different and all great

This is one of those rare occasions when I enjoy the studio version more than live. He laid back more with it in the studio version and took his time, let it build. I prefer the slightly slower pace. Still amazing to listen to either way. Loving your reactions to these. You should try Riviera Paradise.

I love your love for SRV. He was quite amazing. He had a love affair with that guitar. . I love the dude. His death was a huge loss, same said of Jimi Hendrix, they had a lot in common on there talent, and how they gave it to us.

You have got to watch his song called "Lenny", and specifically his El Mocambo version. He wrote the song for his then wife who had a few friends pitch in $50 a piece to buy him the guitar he is playing on in that song. Its one of my favorite live performance of any other song I've heard

So Stevie Ray Vaughn has a brother Jimmie Vaughn who is/was in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. back in the late 80's early 90's this little kid would come to their shows in Austin and would want to play guitar with them. Jimmie took him under his wing. that kid is Gary Clark Jr. check him out, the dude rocks.

Music like this does exist today but it's just hard to find. Obviously not at the level of SRV or legends before him...but still respectable and enjoyable. Gary Clark Jr for example....kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3S8oIqPrLV1mKc

Yeah. I learned about SRV shortly after I started playing guitar when I was 14. He blew my mind. Him and Jimi Hendrix are still my top guys. I learned to play by imitating them but I'm nowhere near their level. Guys like that are just so talented, it's like God knew that the world could only handle a little bit of them, and they were tragically taken away from us. But they will be influencing guitar players til the end of time. Oh and yeah, there are guys out there doing this today. There's a whole army of SRV disciples playing today. Like Joe Bonamassa or Kenny Wayne Shepherd to name a couple.
