Stevie is definitely in the top 5 guitarists of all time.. In my opinion, he's number 3, behind Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, and of course, Jimmy Hendrix.. For guitar solo's, check out Zeppelin live at MSG, 73.. Stairway to heaven.. Page kills it.. Sipping some good bourbon today.. Cheers guys

"A wah-wah pedal (or simply wah pedal) is a type of electric guitar effects pedal that alters the tone and frequencies of the guitar signal to create a distinctive sound, mimicking the human voice saying the onomatopoeic name "wah-wah". The pedal sweeps the peak response of a frequency filter up and down in frequency to create the sound, a spectral glide, also known as "the wah effect". The wah-wah effect originated in the 1920s, with trumpet or trombone players finding they could produce an expressive crying tone by moving a mute in and out of the instrument's bell. This was later simulated with electronic circuitry for the electric guitar when the wah-wah pedal was invented. It is controlled by movement of the player's foot on a rocking pedal connected to a potentiometer. Wah-wah effects are used when a guitarist is soloing, or creating a "wacka-wacka" funk-styled rhythm for rhythm guitar playing" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wah-wah_pedal

Stevie had a bad booze and heroin habit....for a long time, struggled his ass off to kick those demons....finally got himself TOTALLY clean...was doing great, playing better than ever, jamming with his idols, BB King, Jeff Beck, etc., etc., etc.,...then was going to or just finished a recording session, and got on a helicopter with Eric Claptons manager and another man, a helicopter that Eric Clapton was supposed to be on, but wasn't for whatever reason, and then the thing had mechanical trouble in midflight and dropped like a stone. Stevie and all aboard died. Ughh. What a damn, damn shame. He had just gotten himself together, clean and sober and then...gone.

My mom had tickets to the concert after the helicopter flight. Our house was very quiet and sad for a while after that. A VHS (yes I'm old) tape of his performances lived in the VCR for over a year afterwards. It feels like the 'Night Music Died' all over again.

Eric Clapton was on one of the other 3 helicopters flying the musicians from the resort to Chicago. One helicopter was reserved for Stevie Ray, his older brother Jimmie and Jimmie's wife. By the time Stevie Ray got to the helicopter, his seat had been taken by one of Eric Clapton's crew. Stevie told his older brother, "I have to get back to Chicago." So Jimmie and his wife got off and Stevie Ray got on. The 4 helicopters were on the golf course at the resort. It was after midnight and they took off in dense fog. Stevie Ray's helicopter only flew for about 1/2 a mile before crashing into the ski slope killing everyone in the helicopter instantly. Because of the darkness and the fog, no one even knew there had been a crash until morning. Jimmie had to identify his brother's body. Here's a good article about the terrible accident. www.guitarworld.com/artists/august-1990-how-stevie-ray-vaughan-died

SRV is the guitar player Jimmie always wanted to be. Upon his judgement, Jimmie explained to the lord that he wasn't finished. There was so much more that could be done with a guitar, so the good lord just reincarnated him into a white kid from Texas and let him loose. That's a fact.

Great reaction! Love you two. So happy that you’re learning about and appreciating Stevie’s gift. For something more bluesy, try Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, and Leave My Girl Alone, from this same show in Austin. Donna G

You need to do some reactions to Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb. A lot of people think Stevie Ray Vaughan when he played the spirits of all the others that have passed put inside him playing along. His song life without you is my favorite. I don't drink but smoking some good bud

You BETTER dig Stevie Ray. . .I can't believe there's anyone who doesn't. . .SRV is in my personal Hall of Fame, along with Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, BB King, Eric Clapton and Gary Moore. . .When I'm down about somethin', listening to any of those six guys can bring me back up. . .Loved your reaction!!

That comment, "Jimi would be proud" was so on target. SRV catches a balance between rockin' it and doing blues that would have Jimi feel honored Stevie did this song.
