My Ex girlfriend had a addiction problem but she was clean when i meet her, we stayed together for almost 5 years and during those years she had 2 very bad relapses and at the last one i found her on the sofa heavily overdosed on meth and she'd be dead today if i didnt show up when i did.. Wasnt even supposed to be there i just got a very bad feeling something was wrong.. I stayed with her for about 4mo after that and helped her through rehab etc, but after all that she cheated on me with a guy she later on got into a relationship with who also was an addict.. Its always hard to lose someone you love to drugs, and especially to know that no mather how much you love them or how much you give them there'll always be 1 thing they love more then you! This song hits very hard for me. My mum grew up with drugs and after losing her first baby passed away (I believe it was a miscarriage but not sure) she quit that life, to start a new one with a family which she achieved with my dad which lead to me, my two brothers and sister being here. Around 2015 (I think) she got diagnosed with cancer and started taking drugs again to “deal” with the pain, the main drugs being heroine and Valium. I guess I should be glad she wasn’t consistently taking them, every few months she would, but still, those times she did take them, I knew my time with her was limited, and I wanted to spend her last years with the mum that raised me. She was the mum that raised me for the most part of her last years, so I’m thankful for that. She lost her battle with cancer in 2019, I know she’s soaring high, and every step I take, it is to ensure she’s smiling at me, because my last step will lead me to her.

Now im 25 and feel like doing acid a few years ago changed me permanently and I feel really detached/skittish. I was recently single from my hs sweetheart and lost pretty much all of my friends, moved to a new town for college and just felt really lost, was looking for something, distraction, escape, answers idk but now this song makes me compare me now to child me and it feels kinda haunting.
