I had an anthropology professor in 2011 say "Today we are going to listen to a song that depicts the how those struggling on the fringe of society might possibly operate outside normally accepted societal means to survive." I immediately asked "Is it Dead Prez's 'Hell Yeah'?" and the look on her face when she paused and said "....Yes" is still with me to this day. Needless to say I was the only one in class rapping along. Dr Amason, hope you're doing well.

Dead Prez are so underrated in the old school HipHop community. Thank you guys for giving me this track growing up, kept me on the right side even when I was doing wrong for myself ^^
@TheDionysiac6 ай бұрын
Dead Prez is self-described as a politically revolutionary hip hop group. The message is that people at the bottom of society live in conditions and within systems that make these crimes almost necessary for survival. The ending is just another part of the oppression cycle the video is outlining. It's not a "this is the ending crimes deserve" type of message.
