While the Giant Hornet has not been officially sighted in the US since its arrival four years ago and subsequent extermination in Washington state, there are always many alleged sightings in states such as Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. While some may be mistaken identity with the European Hornet or Eastern Cicada Killer, environmental agencies are always on the lookout. Meanwhile, the Yellow-Legged Hornet was eliminated from Georgia after its arrival last year, but has subsequently been sighted in the Carolinas. And it has now invaded the UK after arriving in France many years ago.

Thank you very much for showing that the hornets aren't heartless monsters. Wasps are scary but they are also very fascinating and there is way too much fear for them. That clip of you feeding one by hand was incredible and just shows that in the natural world, there is no good or bad; only survivors.

You may want to humanize them, but the simple fact is, these "survivors" would happily kill us all to feed themselves by eliminating a crucial component of our food supply. They're not little animals, they're killing machines designed by natural selection. They deserve no sympathy.

You exploit the attack method that all Hornets, wasps and bees use. One hornet stuck to the glue trap releases attack pheromones and stings the glue trap and then the others are attracted by the distressed hornet and like magnets go to rescue and attack and then they get stuck too. It’s a chain reaction. We have the Asian hornet Vespa Velutina over here in the UK. We’re tackling the issue quite effectively.
