Cast iron is perfect for eggs, so long as it has been heavily oiled and heavily used for a long time. A newer cast iron pan is a disaster for eggs.

True story: I used to think that cast iron pans absorbed the flavors of whatever was cooked, “seasoning”. Avoided cooking eggs in them for that reason until I discovered I am dumb.
