@@skampster I have driven 8500 km on my Lynx, but on my tracks I have places where the suspension hits the bottom and I have to go around these places or get off the wheel and push. The Apex was supposed to be a Lynx with more suspension travel, so I was planning to pre-order the Apex and I almost did. Thanks for the forum and Matt's tests, now I know it's stupid to buy a first wheel from Nosfet. Here in Europe, pre-orders are €3800, and to that you need to add a lot of things like a saddle with a handle, velcro, power pads, pedals or adjusting pedals, experimenting with shock absorbers +- €500 each. Thank you, I'm not interested in pushing a wheel out of the forest every other time. Now I'm going to apologize to my lynx for having already advertised for sale.

@@ludovitstros6783 Ill sum up Nosfet in nutshell. Nosfet is being run by a guy who's ego is far outweighing is ability to make good judgement calls. He so desperately wants the credit for making a wheel more than actually making a wheel that in time will or might make him a ledgend. Jack is the wrong person to run this company. someone needs to take over who is way more business focussed than "me " focussed.

If they are going to go with a wet system, they really need a better dust seal. If they can't get it to seal right, all that lube is just going to collect dust and turn into muck.

Great video, i have mapped out the geometry now and how all the different shocks lengths with fit and with what teeth alignments that paticual shock length should align to. I believe there is alot of confusion about the geared teeth position alignment and where it should match with different lengths shocks. Hopefully the geometry mapping i have done will help understand this. I agree a air shock will absolute feel softer than the coil especially considering the ratio is from 5.0 to 1.7. I don't recall what the specs of your shock are. aligning your airshock to a 5.0 ratio with sag will be a impossible task. hence the high PSI. I mapped out and believe the best option is a 240DNM rcp2s @ 550lbs in geared teeth position 5&6 The seized sliders is sad, see how this evolves.
@trubttam12 күн бұрын
And this 240x76mm DNM shock at position 6 will still allow for the full “150mm” of travel? I can test this once the production version arrives, I have that shock left over from an s22 and have a 500lb coil I can test with for now

After installing a 210x61mm into position 6 I really can’t imagine how the 240mm would help but I’m open to more details on how you reached that conclusion

We've had sealed oil filled motorcycle forks for over 50 years now. No reason that same design can't be used, won't be touching a new wheel till that happens.

I believe that the slider/tube system is used to save both weight and cost but it’s certainly not my preference. My preference would be to design the sliders module to be interchangeable with the FastAce hydraulic suspension so that consumers can easily upgrade to a dual suspension system if desired. I actually prefer cheap/ineffectual pedals, trolley handles, power pads and fairings so that each can be upgraded through aftermarket improvements. This slider-tube should be no different. Design to accommodate the FastAce, then sell units with the experimental slider component and let users decide when to modify. Note: Dual suspension systems are neither cost effective, nor necessarily better but the rate of maintenance tear downs on the air-shocks seals alone warrants consideration of some alternatives (which is why the air/coil-over component has been used successfully. One problem with the Apex slider-tube system is that it doesn’t have an internal auxiliary spring {because this would make the height adjustment mechanism significantly more complicated is my guess}, and the dual system will be prohibitively expensive when measured by retail price alone. Take a lesson from the 1960s VW beetle: design for simplicity and aftermarket upgradability and the costs can be competitive with inferior systems yet consumers will prefer the models longevity, utility and maintenance characteristics. {imo}

Consider gluing a ‘bullseye level’ to top for consistent calibration. This won’t help the firmware insufficiencies but may make field calibration easier.

Sounds like they designed the suspension backwards, usually you would find an OTS shock and design your suspension around it. This seems to have been over engineered on the simplest levels and forgot to think about real world implementation. Like they say things may looks good on paper but may bot perform the same.
@trubttam12 күн бұрын
@@CBRoadster I’ve been begging for EUC designers to tune linkages around OTS standard shocks since the Extreme. I’m honestly just bewildered that it is not the standard by now. It might just never happen.

@@trubttam I am not surprised honestly. I know the companies "try" to take the communities recommendations to make the next best wheel but you can also tell they hold back, go outside the box to "make a hype wheel" but it is also for profit. I don't do huge jumps so personally I like the SS and SL suspension. The apex could take away the kickstand and spend the money elsewhere on the wheel to make it better and cheaper. I took the kickstand off my L already because i just rest it on the front handle 🤷♂

@@CBRoadster Yeah I could do without the kickstand. I have always removed trolleys and kickstands.

Why isn’t the barrel of the stanchion just filled with oil? You don’t have to lube the stanchion of the lynx, and the oil doesn’t leak out. Drill a hole in the top and bottom of the barrel of the stanchion, thread the hole, and put a plug in it. Filling from the top drain from the bottom seems pretty straightforward. Then, you will not be worrying about lubing anything. Just change the oil now and then.
@trubttam12 күн бұрын
@@sherryandpeter they have said there was originally some kind of lubricant in there but it was bone dry when I got to it so it must have escaped. I believe the production units will use a thicker compound than the samples. I also suggested adding a port for adding/draining. I wonder if they know about zerk fittings.
@sherryandpeter12 күн бұрын
Absolutely! When you begin lubricating through a grease zerk, you're effectively pushing out all the dirt around the seals, flushing it away. This should be the only method you use to add lubrication. Applying lubricant on the outside of the seals, provided the seals are good quality, is just a waste of time.

might be that the spring rate is too high for your weight with the coil shock, that would definitely make it seem harsher vs the air shock. High preload also absolutely kills small bump sensitivity. Ideally you want no preload at all.
@trubttam13 күн бұрын
yeah i am very against preload but the sag was so low i tried it, so i dont think the spring rate is too weak (sag) towards the beginning you can see it moves really well. Because the stanchions are freshly lubed
@keptick9 күн бұрын
@@trubttamoof sounds like the linkage ratio is iffy then, like the master. It's crazy that you need a 1000lb spring in the first place, that's way too high. It'd probably be better to run the stanchions dry with super low friction seals just to keep the dust out. I hope they can figure out good solutions...
