Here's what I think part of the problem might be: Since there's no oil in the sliders, the seals will eventually displace the lubricant on the tubes and push it away from the places where they slide. In a fork suspension like the lynx since the stanchions are filled with oil the seals always have a minimum of lubrication, whereas on the apex they might quickly run dry. Soft rubber seals (assuming that's what the sliders use) without some form of constant oil lubrication are just doomed to suck in terms of stiction I think... I have an S18 which unfortunately suffers from the same slider stiction problems. I've done a bunch of mods and tried everything to seal and lube the tubes properly (since the default dust boots don't do much) and I've been running into the same issues with lubricants only being effective for a short while. Next thing I'm trying is low friction seals made out of a harder plastic/rubber along with 0 lube or some dry graphite lubricant. At least the apex has way better tolerances, so it might be possible to sort the stiction out. Hope you or the design team can figure something out!

I'm amazed how you can talk about a subject while riding on a offroad track with a EUC and also caring for the camera stick at the same time. While I'm riding I just can focus on where to put the wheel so that its less likely to fall off.

@@segment932 it's less the talking and more the camera holding. The second you put the camera away it's much easier to focus and ride fast. It's for this reason that I sometimes prefer to use a chin or chest mount, but it's simply not as good of a perspective for EUC riding.

So, there's an issue with pedal behaviour, the stock air shock failed pretty quick, they just changed the size of the coil shock, the stanchions have to be serviced constantly cause they're not sealed, and now there's some resonance problem after a few rides. Oh, and there's still concerns re the suspension adjustment mechanism, and it's gotta be checked constantly to make sure it hasn't come loose. Or people can just keep their Lynxes.

Hey Matt, first thanks again for the amazing video, important question. what is your final opinion, Is it better to buy the Lynx for heavy offroad, jumps and trails or try the Nosfet Apex?

The Lynx has already proven itself, the Apex seems to be off to a rough start in that department.

Try a Push 11 - 6 on that thing. 😂. I put it on my electric mountain bike and it is an absolute dream as compared to the other five shocks I tried before that. And it has two completely separate compression and rebound settings all with a flip of a switch. It's super nice because when you're riding on the road you just firm it up and then with a flip of the switch you soften it up for riding off-road.

What we really need is someone like EXT who goes out of the way to make shocks specifically for Surrons to get into the EUC market. I am not confident you would be able to find the right spring rate coil to really take advantage of the Push on the Apex. Perhaps when aftermarket linkages come into play 🙏

Great video! What is your mic setup with your insta360? Having trouble finding a way to mount my DJI Mic 2 so that it's not all heavy breathing off-road lol

All of the audio is coming from the GoPro on the chin, I also have some wind muffs on the mics and GoPro in auto wind mode

This seems like more headache than I would expect hopefully other peoples experiences are better than what you're having. If all people end up having the same problems you're having it's not gonna go well.

Yeah I think the stiction is going to be the biggest issue with this wheel, they said they had to basically create their own lubricant by cutting thicker grease with thinner lube. At that point, when you have to develop a new lubricant to overcome the friction in your design, you should probably start rethinking things. I can only imagine how hot those slider tubes are getting, its just burning thru the lube or something.

@@trubttam would those rubber fork tubes not work on an EUC to protect the suspension from dust, mud and water? Not sure what they are called in english, but they were used on motorcycle front suspension in 'the old days'..

@@JonahOnEUCyeah like shock boots my first mountain bike had those, I don’t think they would fit into this system tho. They would have to fit into a tight spot with no room to expand outward when they compress, and they would need to go from like 5mm fully compressed to 150mm stretched. I was really expecting the channel that the tube slides through to be filled with oil like a mountain bike fork, but as it is designed now if they did that you would loose all the oil if you wanted to change your tire since you must remove the slider tube to reach the motor bolts 🫠
