I like how this was recorded in one run - no cuts. There was a time when this was normal, but these days that's sorta a rare sight. The content and pace is also great! Kudos for spreading the word!

This is my real problem. I'm a guitar hobbyist and I feel stuck, and I'm always unable to play a complete piece without failing at some point. I will put in practice your advice. Thank you.

I just started playing the piano a few months ago and mental practice has helped me immensely to play a piece without failing. I called it "not being able to remember the notes quickly enough", because I did know the notes, I just couldn't recall them in real time. Mental practice feels like it strengthens my connection to the memory of it, and makes the mental impression of the passages stronger and more vivid.

Very true!!! This is why my teacher says “to study”! That’s really what we need to do! We need to study the instrument, the pieces and everything in order to understand what’s going on.

Great summation, Tatyana, of what it means to truly "practice". I think it also contemplates working on scales and etudes, with metronome, in a structured, planned-out manner.

Thank you Tatyana, for your reply to my question about practicing, in your livestream. I play recorder, and I've been able to make my practice more goal oriented. This video is helpful too! Christmas is coming, and I'm brushing up on Christmas music for my family. I'm also branching out into moderately difficult keys like c minor. But it's all a lot more focused than it was, so thanks! Ps - recorder in German is Blockfloete.

I play multiple instruments well.... I practice by hearing and playing a particular phrase. Then I practice connecting the phrases. Connection is often the hardest part when practicing. It is so important to listen and hear the phrase. As Tatyana has said there are multiple ways to practice. All the different ways of practicing listed here are correct, but without thinking about the phrase and what you want to say in that phrase with dynamics, “bowing” , “breath control”, etc... musicality is often impossible. Breathing while playing guitar or any other instrument is essential to producing desired effects while practicing and performing.

can you make a video about the right repertoire for your level of playing? I mean like some kind of a list of "basic" and "must know" pieces from begginer level to advanced and professional level...

Tl; dr version: Playing - exactly what it sounds like, you PLAY. You're having fun with your instrument Practicing - pull out a metronome, slow down the tempo, break a piece up into small sections, repetition repetition repetition, gradually speed up.
