Welcome back everyone, it’s a pleasure to have you all here. Here we go again on another adventure in the world of aircraft maintenance.
As always I encourage you to ask questions, leave your feedback, your own knowledge and most importantly correct ME if I said anything incorrectly. Remember, I’m just like you, I learn new things everyday.. and who better than to learn from then people who are likeminded in aviation.. YOU 🤗.
Thank you all for watching and being here and I’ll see you on the next adventure. Cheers 🤙

The covered cars are Czinger 21C. The first one has a lot of the panels removed because it was at Goodwood. It shows the suspension where AI and 3D printing has been used to create complex suspension shapes that cut down on costs while increasing strength, hence why a lot of the suspension pieces look odd. The second one was a completed one. 1,250hp, 219mph, only 80 units will be built. $2.8 million each Great video as usual Stig. The OPIC section was quite interesting as an EE engineer.

Jet A-1 is usually clear to straw coloured. Jet B (maybe not used anymore except extreme North or MilSpec is almost always clear as it’s wide cut closer to kerosene in the distillation process . I am not sure if jet A is closer to clear. I did 12 years as an aviation fuel tech and only saw clear like water jet maybe 2-3 times. Stig you folks use Jet A or Jet A-1 Fuel can also change colour based on filter contamination in the dispensing system or pipeline transport. There is a test called a gravimetric / milipore test where fuel is passed thru a either a single, double or triple filter cartridge and allowed to dry than compared to a colour chart. That shouldn’t affect actual appearance of the fuel tho, only detect microscopic contamination. Love the videos my guy!

I’ve only done a year as a fuel tech, but we only got straw colored fuel. I believe it was JET A-1. I’ve heard that it really just depends on the fuel producer/distributer
@tylerweaver0201
@tylerweaver0201 Ай бұрын
@Mayormayor47 yeah usually the clear stuff I saw came from a different refinery/distribution system than the usual one. Some times with distillate fuels like diesel the colour's will change depending on seasonal blend specs but jet has a constant blend spec. Even the crude source can dictate the colour. Either way clear to straw is inspec, as long as it's not blue you're good to go (at least with turbine engines) ;)

The fuel penalty for the Flap Track Fairing is automatically taken into account by the flight planning system when the aircraft is dispatched. If any MEL or CDL has been applied that includes a performance penalty (fuel, weight, maximum flight altitude, etc.), the pilots need to check that it is shown on their paperwork which indicates that it has been included in the calculations.

Easy explained, Horch is the predecessor of the car manufacturer that today is known as Audi. Horch was founded in the beginning of 1900 by August Horch. In 1909 he was forced to leave Horch because of disagreement with the rest of the board and instead founded Audi. Auto Union was a Group of German car manufacturer, pretty much like today’s VAG. Auto Union was founded in 1932 by the four car manufacturers Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer due to the financial crisis in Germany. All that remain of Auto Union today is the classical 4 rings that still to this day is the Logo of Audi.

If you want to see more of the Horch beauties, come to Zwickau in Saxony. There is the August Horch Museum with lots of old cars (Horchs of cause and other cars made in Zwickau like the Trabant), old motor cycles and old engines. Some trivia about the company names Horch and Audi: "Horch"’ is the German command form of the verb "hören" (to listen). If you translate this into Latin, you will get "Audi".

You could almost make the case that a working coffee machine, is a must for ETOPS! I never noticed that yellow dot for lining up the jet way! Cool trivia, thanks for pointing that out! Also, consider your self lucky! I have only seen two Brabus cars in my life. Both were Mercedes Benzes. One was on the PCH, 15 years ago. I was next to it at a red light. I started taking pictures of it, and the front passenger window rolls down, and the man driving asks, "Are you a paparazzi?!" I said, "No! I've never seen a Brabus before!" He smiled and said "Ok!". I think he was a bigshot celebrity, and I didn't recognize him, which probably made him more comfortable, and my answer believable 😃 The 2nd Brabus, was literally at the corner Sunoco 2700 miles east of the PCH, 30s from my house last month! That was really exciting. Not a celebrity though! Great shift Stig 😎🤙!!

9:40 I have seen this on the line and as soon as the Maintenance Operational Control have applied the CDL to the record, the Dispatcher will electronically input this into the flight plan and a Load Agent will be notified as well. But with the active CDL, the Dispatch software will automatically apply the weight penalty to the flight plan and useable load. Super easy, super safe.

For those curious, here's ChatGPT's explanation: Jet engines with mid-span shrouds often click when rotated on the ground due to the interaction between the shrouds and the blades. Mid-span shrouds are devices used to connect blades together, typically at the midpoint of the blade span, to improve structural integrity and reduce vibration. When the engine is not operating, the blades and shrouds can move slightly due to the lack of centrifugal force that usually keeps them tightly in place during operation. As the engine is manually rotated, the slight movements or gaps between the shrouds and the blades can cause a clicking or tapping sound. This noise is generally harmless and is a result of the mechanical play within the system when it is not under operational stress.

Fuel.. from what had learned during my time as the Fueling Supervisor at my facility was it depends on where the fuel comes from. Which country….even to where in the country. Fuel from So. America had a totally different color than fuel from the US. It comes down to the refinery and original crude product. We would have airlines from Canada, South America and all over the US. Line them up, and each one has a different color. The blue/purple huge comes from the sunlight….just like when you see a fuel spill on water.

Airline pilots are so spoiled with ACARS and not manually entering the flight plan… In fact they are spoiled by not having to plan and file their own flights! In the business jet world I have to do it all… Cold and dark startup, flight planning, entering the waypoints, loading the bags, getting the food and snacks. But I get to fly a race car into small airports like Aspen, so that makes up for it all! I’ve heard of pilots pranking new flight attendants by feeding a $100 into the printer and feeding it out.

I get what you're talking about with the "better to remove the damaged part" regarding the "canoe" fairing. If that thing is damaged in the wrong way it could drop on someone's head, that's no good. But if it's damaged in a different wrong way, the air stream of normal flight of the aircraft could force that damaged part into the linkage of the flaps, and that's even worse!

Exactly. You completely understand then 👍

Stig, when pushing or towing aircraft, you have the rolling weight of the aircraft putting pressure on the nose gear strut. I’m assuming that strut is particularly strong.
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Ай бұрын
If it would stand the landing, it can withstand the turning. Yes the nose gear is very strong.

Haha. Some of that's pretty old. E.g. l remember DME & ADF from the USCG ON C - 130's back in the day on Pac Basin SAR. We used to listen to broadcast AM on our RDF's.

As soon as I saw the green grease in the flap mechanism I knew it was Aeroshell 33. Good lubricant, but it has a strong odor, and if you get any on you, you will smell it for hours! Most aircraft greases don’t have any detectable scent, but not 33!
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Ай бұрын
33 is definitely a stinky one. You’ll smell it all day long if you get it on you 😅

@ 8:39 In healthcare we to have thermal printers. We don't print on paper but rather on sticky labels. Mostly patient information that is put on papers and other media to keep track of which patient it belongs to.
