@@StigAviationHey Stig, question for you. Fellow USAF maintainer over here. How does it work at AA, are you guys trained to work on all airframes? If so, that's pretty impressive, I can't even imagine how you do it. We're limited to a specific airframe unless you change jobs but day to day ops are on the same bird. How do you handle jumping from one bird to another? Is there a steep learning curve? I wouldn't say so but still, there's probably gonna be some differences.

A couple of questions for you. 1. At the gates what is the b737 warning box? 2. Say in the event of the airport getting evacuated how would you know to leave or be informed? Only talking about this bcs at LGW (London Gatwick airport) they had to evac south terminal bcs of a bomb. Also in case you were wondering lgw is actually 28 miles from London itself.😂😂 Also love your videos. Tonight I have popcorn, chocolate bar, cuppa tea, fluffy pyjamas, stig shift #48. Also as a suggestion is it possible to at the end of each episodes if you can put a bunch of pictures to use as wallpapers or create a whole new series just of the pictures.

Honestly, like the captain that said those actuators were dampeners. I know it's not necessary knowledge for a pilot but, still. Reminds me when I asked a pilot if a hole on the side of a 757's engine was the bleed exhaust. He didn't have a clue. However, I did ask a pilot about 737 leading edge deicing because, for some reason, boeing figured the outer slat didn't need anti-ice? That pilot knew what he was talking about. I was simply happy a mechanic could finally explain the cable system for MD slats. First time watching; very nostalgic for me. Especially that early morning airport ramp view. I could almost smell it myself. Cheers!

Is that Capt steeeeeve video 17:10 🤣.. if so. Then I saw it, too, and thank you for explaining it correctly

Yep that’s the guy, he’s a nice person but he doesn’t understand or know about his airplane very much. Matter fact he just made another video talking about oxygen, and he said that the crew oxygen is also part of the passenger oxygen. You can imagine the look on my face 🤦🏻♂️

All pilots require a compass, the compass is almost like a Pilot's Bible, I normally fly digital cockpit aircraft, thinking of taking one for my next flight, with steam gauges, because they are reliable if power goes out and generally more reliable.

Sad to say most modern pilots don’t think that way. It’s a heavy reliance on automated systems nowadays.

How fast technology advances, I remember changing semi tires on the side of the road with 70s tech split rims, we put chains on the tire/rims knowing that would not help, back then many persons decapitated by faulty spilt rim retainers (metal) flying from burst tire, split rim semi tires outlawed now. I never had an issue changing them and changed many, else would not be typing this.

FYI Check out magnetic compass declination, without knowing that a compass can lie big time. The magnetic poles and N ans S poles are in different locations.
@StigAviation8 күн бұрын
Hence why there’s a little chart on the side of that compass to compensate for deviation and declination.

good morning Stig, Hope all is well. I have a few questions. I noticed in the cockpit areas there are a bunch of flat head screws still being used and they are all turned in the same direction. Why are Phillips head screws not being used throughout? Can you tell if an aircraft tire is low by just looking at it? How often are the planes washed on the outside? They always look clean, but due to their rapid turn around schedule, how is time scheduled for cleaning the exterior of the planes? The wheels always look dirty from the brake dust. How often are these cleaned? Also is American Airlines planning to attain any of the new 777 X's? Once all the issues are corrected.

The flight deck areas has flathead screws because they are quick turn fasteners. All the panels are modular. Yes usually I can tell if the tire is low by looking at it. We also have pressure indicators in the flight deck on some airplanes. I have talked about and made a dedicated video on when and how aircraft get cleaned, check out that video when you get a chance. And I’m not sure if my carrier is going to be buying the 777X.
