Today we are are working on A vintage Stihl 011 AV (Anti-Vibe) for my Buddy Visser. She hasn't ran in a few years and needs a once over. We'll break it down and check all systems, Starter, Carburetor, Spark....the basics....then We'll see if She runs and cuts!

Sweet little saw! I've never owned a 011 but the guy that trimmed my trees had one hanging from his tool belt while he climbed from limb to limb like a spider monkey. I was amazed. Every time he pulled the starter rope on his 011, it started first pull. Don't forget to rub some two stroke oil on that J Red.

Dan, I enjoy your posts! You know we are cattle Ranchers and Beekeepers in central Mexico. The Martinez ranch sits on 7248ft above sea level. I spent my teenage years there before I came back to the greatest valley of them all. The Big Valley, San Joaquín Valley in California. We have a 1973? STIHL chainsaw. Pops bough it new in Fresno California and took to the ranch. I don't remember the model etc...I'll find out! Good post my friend!

Nice video of a great saw. These things are a work of art. My father recently past away. And he gave me his old Stihl 010 AV a while ago. I'm slowly going through all his tools and restoring them one by one. His old Stihl is next. The oiler doesn't work and apparently part's aren't available. But usually they just need a good clean. The foam filter clogs them up as they desolve into pieces. Hopefully the diaphragm is still good.

Thank you my Friend, yes great little saw, wish there was a source for the oiler diaphragm for sure....appreciate you Brother!😁
@chrisrageNJ
@chrisrageNJ Жыл бұрын
Hey, stupid question, can that diaphragm be replaced with one from something else or can you make one out of a piece of rubber or silicone? I haven't looked at a schematic or the actual part, just spitballing. Another option is a thin coat of E6000 over the cracked rubber- I used some on a little craftsman saw that the fuel line just stuck through a hole into the tank where it leaked. The E6000 seems to be fuel resistant so far so I'm sure bar oil wouldn't affect it. I patched a silver dollar sized hole in the sidewall of a quad tire (I used safety wire to stitch the hole shut first) with a layer of E6000 on both sides of the wall and it held air better than the intact tire. I rode on it for years, it's pretty durable
@northcanterburylogging3039
@northcanterburylogging3039 Жыл бұрын
@@chrisrageNJ I have seen similar diaphragm in pulse carburetors. With a retaining clip. Anything is possible I guess. The part is now available aftermarket. It was an option I was considering. I'm just going through my father's tools one at a time and restoring them. To original as clean as possible. I've just finished a restoration on my grandfather's McCulloch D30. Luckily he had a heap of spares. Managed to get the paint scanned and matched perfectly 👌

@KainKustomGarage I just went through both of my 011s, I have an 011AV and an 011AVT, one dated 1979 on the air filter lid and one dated 1985. The older dated one is like the one you are working on in the video (the '85 has a slightly different handle layout), and I got one running and cutting after watching your video. I got all the parts online for cheap but I'm not impressed with the quality so it's just good thing I have 3 extra now. The saw I have like yours has a walboro(?) carb so I have to get a different kit but all the fuel and vent lines are changed and I had it running under full throttle. I came back to your video to look again before I tackle it tomorrow but I think I just need to purge the lines. Thanks again, great video

@@KainKustomGarage had a long talk with an Oregon technical advisor this morning. Oregon used to make a spur sprocket for the Stihl 011: Oregon#28016X. this part replaced the OEM 7 tooth Stihl sprocket with one that had but 6 teeth. regretably Oregon discontinued this issue, but the Oregon tech went on to give me the phone no. of a saw shop in Iowa that still deals with old inventory. called Frawley's Saw Shop and talked with a gentleman just as helpful as the tech at Oregon. didn't get it cheap, but got it reasonable compared to some of the gouge artists on Ebay. 24.99USD w/ free shipping. had to return a spur sprocket to an Amazon dealer just recently. that aftermarket 7 tooth spur was a quarter inch plus smaller in diameter than original. that woulda seriously affected chain pitch and coupled with the fact that the metal did not look hardened woulda tore that sprocket up. keep doin what you're doin on your channel. always enjoyable
