STIHL 024 AV WOOD BOSS oil leak fix

My stihl had been leaking bar oil. in this video I show what I did to fix the problem.

I have 026 and my pump is identical to yours. Amazon has pump kits labeled for 026 but the pump in much different then what is on this vid and what I, you, actually have. Viewers really need to be careful lining this up. Just because Amazon sellers call it a 026 or 024A pump, doesn't mean it is. If you are just looking for the intake hose and filter, (leaky part), this will work. This was really useful, thanks.

There is a big flat washer that keeps the clutch from tightening down on the worm gear and binding it up. It has the word “Top” stamped on it. The Top side goes outward. The oil system on the 024 is a constant running system. If the engine is running, it is pumping oil to the bar. I usually replace this system with one that only oils when the sprocket is turning, but it requires a lot of new parts.

I have older version of the same saw with that problem. So just replace that oil hose, and hope it works. 🙂

Thanks for the post mine has been leaking for a while large amount of bar oil once it sets over night all the bar oil leaks out.

At 4:40 it looks like your needle bearing is damaged. And you should grease it when you have it apart before reinstalling (lithium grease).

Great video!, thanks. I'm green to saw mechanics. I unfortunately shredded my o24av oil pump, and everything up to the sprocket. i cant find a replacement anywhere for the oil pump. Is there an alternative setup, or OEM/used part you suggest I use for the o24av oil pump?

I would look on ebay for parts. It surprises me stihl cant get you parts. Those saws are getting old though.

I replaced one on my ms360......mine still leaks. Replaced oil cap also....still leaks.

I have an 024AVS (Super). I cannot find an OEM or comparable aftermarket tensioner for these saws. Any idea?

Not the right fuel line for the 024. Will need a straight one. That fuel line fits some of the 026 saws.

How have u get out the oil pump? It looks like there is a ring on top ?

There that is part of the clutch and it comes off easy.

Oh ok. I have the same saw and I like to put out the oil pump but I can't get out this silver ring which secures the pump in the middle after you put out the clutch. Or is this ring part of the pump itself? I am not sure. Thanks for ur help ;D

I thought you were talking about the clutch safety band. I dont beleive there was any ring that I removed before I took the pump out, just the 2 screws holding it in.

So the silver ring in the middle on top of the oil pump is part of the pump? Because I took out the two screws. But it fits tight..
