@@MountainVoiceInc had a few issues with the 3120s but they cut a bit faster than the 088, that Stihl is a tractor tho. I see so you were breaking them down in the bush just to get the weight down for the heli. The o9o is a definitely a tractor. Full house chain on it with like 100 teeth contacting wood and it still just pulls out shavings.

@@MountainVoiceInc yup,the aircrane would lift up to 25 thousand pounds but sometimes the logs were too much even though they were at a minimum bucking length already,sometimes 13’6” but still weighing over 30 grand. the 090G is a 105cc saw, basically the same as an 070 but in addition it has the gearing system to improve its torque to be close to the actual 137cc (not 120cc) of the 090. so less fuel consumption for the same amount of torque.

You should try the McCullough 125 as they were made for higher rpms the 090 is a torque monster and are good for felling big trees but are slower and not really suitable for the smaller trees of today. The 090 makes a good milling saw as it has a manual oiler and can run an 8 foot bar :)

I have a Stihl 076. It has the same horsepower as the Stihl 661 but holds more fuel and apparently has a lot more torque? How does torque affect the saw? It it just how it's able to pull through a very large log without the chain stalling? Or is that horsepower. I feel like I know but then I could be entirely wrong. I know the 090 has 0.1 hp less thant the 881 but has waay more torque. Does that mean it can cut much larger logs?

@MountainVoiceInc Жыл бұрын
Good question. Well I’m sure other people have covered the 500is cross cut already, and I have logs to rip in half anyway. The 090 isn’t really compatible with a stock bar, so there is no fair comparison there. I just set each one to play off their advantage’s. The 090 is slow but high torque so lots of teeth is better. The 500i is fast so narrow bar and less teeth is better.

Ya if they had the same bar on the 090 would win if the bar was long and had lots of teeth, but the 500i would win if the bar was short and had few teeth.
